Welcoming Aichi Meiden High School

The Japanese students, along with their conductors, teachers and parents, stepped foot on Singapore - the first time travelling out of the country or taking a plane for the majority of them - in the afternoon. They started pouring into the MJ hall at about four to five plus.

Today is also Ms Sia's birthday, and Ju Ling & company baked a cake for Ms Sia representing the alumni.

The heart-shaped cake, cookies and muffins
The Japanese students entering the hall
Mr Wong welcoming the Japanese band with a speech in Japanese
This is Meiden band's captain (or band president those kind) with a speech in English

After which we had some kind of interaction with our sections. We had a hard time communicating because they can't speak and understand English well and we can't utter much Japanese. But it was quite funny. They're very nice people too!

The tuba section! So cute~ The Japanese are Shota (the guy with glasses), Shinya and Tomoko (in front)

Due to the weather, they were sweating a lot.

The Jap conductor and our Principal, Ms Lai
The Jap band listening intently
The two conductors talking to us, with the quite irritating cameraman on the left

Through the conductors we learnt that it was the first time for a lot of them to take a plane or get out of their country. They hail from Nagoya, which is quite a countryside area in Japan. Some of them do not have computers at home. But I'm sure their scenery there is very nice! Can't wait to get to go there next June. Hopefully we get to go!

And the band can sing la! They sang damm well! You could hear the guys' voices too, they were very soothing! So envious. They can play their instruments well and can sing too. During the course of singing you could hear the crescendos and decrescendos and the accents those kind! Sigh........so powerful!

Singing their school anthem

They're a group of very disciplined people, like their captain can stand up and shout something which commanded them to get up too, and then the captain will shout something like to thank whosoever, and the whole band will get up at the same time and shout loudly with spirit and gusto!

WOAH! We were very overwhelmed by their energy though they may be tired after the long plane journey.

Then my section and I were saying we must shout to greet Ms Sia from now on. Must have the same kind of vital energy as them hahaa.

After which they had to put their instruments in our band room and we helped carry them...no, we TRIED to help them carry. They won't let you carry one! Very courteous, very polite, they won't want to burden you. Where do you find this sort of attitude in Singapore?? They're really very funny! I heard that they were chasing after some MJ band members who took their instruments and ran off towards the band room. It's like they really didn't want you to help them. Tiny girls moving large boxes! How can this be happening?!

In MJ they'll be asking the guys to go help move stuff. And the guys will be moving very slowly. You see the Japanese running, whether guy or girl!

Tomoko and Cliff

Tomoko said that Cliff is cute because he was quite shy when we were trying to intro them to each other. That got everyone laughing. Hahahaha....and I'm always a bully to Cliff. I think I shouldn't be anymore la, I'll be sued. Hahha. But I'm always a sarcastic person...so...ya.

Before practice started we celebrated Ms Sia's birthday for her.

The exco and Mr Wong bought these cakes at the airport when they were picking the Japanese up
Making a wish
Cut the cake and you're a year older!

Yep after which from MJ I left early and rushed to Plaza Singapura to catch a movie.
