Selamat Hari Jadi, Bapa

Selamat Hari Jadi Ah Bean! Umur awak sudah lima puluh.

I'm sorry that you had to spend your birthday eating maggi mee alone at home, because both Mum and Bro were working. In addition, I wasn't around because I got school so stayed in hall.

I'm sorry that I didn't think that you'd be lonely last night, since I had band practice and I was very tired. Therefore I didn't even call you. All I did was to SMS you and suan that you're 50 years old, though you replied you're only 40. But we'll still celebrate at Crystal Jade on your lunar birthday!

I'm sorry I haven't been a daughter that you could be proud of, since I haven't been doing well in my studies, and I have no talents, whatsoever that you can tell your siblings about. Tentang awak gembira kerana awak ada seorang anak perempuan yang baik.

I hope you'll be proud of me when you see me perform this Sunday and not fall asleep. And understand that this is what I like to do.

I'm sorry I only have empty dreams that were not sought after and as much as I'd like to do well to ensure a stable job to bring money home, so that I can finally look after you and mum, I haven't been doing what I want to do. At all.

I'm sorry that you will still drive me around for breakfast because you were afraid I'd go hungry, and that'd use up your money as well as time for ferrying other customers around. I feel guilty all the time because I was taking away your chances at making money.

I'm sorry I haven't been strong, I've been relying on you, I haven't been confident of myself like how you can be of yourself, I haven't been working hard, I haven't been concentrating on work, I've been putting my time on other things, and that I haven't been listening to all your words like a good girl should have.

Still,

Saya cinta padamu.

I only said this here because I know you're not gonna read this.

I'll never say it to you face-to-face.

Thank you for bringing me up and doting on me these twenty years.

And I miss you.

Quite interesting

There's an influx of comments in particular posts of my friends' blog. Not because my friends said unethical/immoral/debatable/whatsoever stuff.

It's something like this actually:

Title: If you leave a comment on this post

1. I'll respond with something random about you
2. I'll challenge you to try something
3. I'll pick a color that I associate with you
4. I'll tell you something I like about you
5. I'll tell you my first/clearest memory of you
6. I'll tell you what animal you remind me of
7. I'll ask you something I've always wanted to ask you
8. If I do this for you, you must post this [post] on your blog.

Kind of a time-waster, but people will always want to know how others think of themselves.

But because I like to think hard regarding this kind of things, I'll procrastinate this till I have some time to spare.

Actually, I can make sure less people will ask me to do that for them if I put the title as: "If you leave this comment 'Erina is very lovable' on this post", then I think I'll have very little to write. Or even none! Ah, good idea. Be truthful about it though =P

Anyway, I'll just paste what my friends commented about me. Keepsake.

~~~~~
1. if u leave a comment, i'll reply lo! haha!
2. hmmm play a tuba concerto for concert :P
3. orange?? hehe cos of the bright orange shirt u wore :P
4. u tok cok too!
5. u came for welcome tea and i forgot liaoz haha!! oops! but i remembered u eating the buffet and toking together with the section :P
6. LION!!! ROAR!!!
7. where will i get my 爱心牛奶?? hehe
Hui Shan: Play a tuba concerto? Siao siao. The main repertoire I got trouble practising already. Haha. Eeyer like me because I talk cock. So sad. But I don't remember the buffet leh. You will get your
爱心牛奶 from Cheers at YIH. Just go there and buy. =P
_________
1. Oh you're a tuba lioness (eh?! haha!)
2. Find more interesting things for me to copy into my blog =P
3. Gold (lion's mane gold rite? haha!)
4. You sure can joke!
5. Band Camp!
6. erm... lion? haha!
7. Do you dance ballet?
Nick: No I don't do ballet! Whahaha. I think the ballet school would have failed me if I've ever been into one. How come you'll ask me if I dance ballet?
__________
1. GROWLS
2. You should try to.. wear long flowy skirts! Actually ah.. Shan and Yokes and Peekae also!!
3. Erm.. copy Nick.. hhaah Gold!
4. You talk cock! :p
5. I was asking Shan who is Erina as I was planning the band camp. Coz I want to put you two same room, coz tuba. She told me "Eh, actually she came for welcome tea, I think she quite nice.." Haha.. My clearest memory about you is about someone talking about you. :p
6. Err.. Lion? Wauhaha!
7. Hahaa.. This is going to be a bomber.. Can I link you? :p
Cloud: Haha, what you should challenge me is to FIND a long flowy skirt! Because if I got one that I like, I'll wear it. Surprise surprise. Haha. The reason I don't have one is because I didn't find any that I like. Why is everyone saying that I talk cock? I really do talk cock? But HS said she couldn't really remember me =\ Haha. Wah, her impression of me was unclear but I still can be a nice person. Woots. Q7 is a very hard question! I don't know how to answer people whenever they ask me this question. OK la, all you NUSWS people! If wanna link then link! =P
__________
1. boo! -makes a face-
2. play a loonnnnnngggg tuba solo in the next concert. heh
3. brown. more the tan sorta colour. not nine kae..
4. i like the way u have so many different ways of greeting people. all the different oneliners...
5. cant rem the 1st meeting but i think it's during band camp. how bout the clearest - all the different faces we made when we said 'boo' to one another. HAHA
6. lion
7. why tubalion ah?
Yokes: BOO. *makes a damn pretty face* WHAHA. I'll freak out playing solos la, so I guess that'll be quite far away! Because my skin is brown? Uh..why tubalion. I don't know. =\ Because I like the tuba and I like the lion but I can't go 'a tuba-playing lion' as it is quite long. So tubalion lo. Haha.
__________
1. hello! i din know u read my blog!!
2. Try paying attention to at least one SOM lecture hah!
3. Pink. Coz I remember seeing you wear a pink top before ha
4. That you are quite corny heh
5. During the band camp we were eating steamboat at the same table and it was great fun!
6. Lion laahh! Ha
7. Are u attached!?
PK: You pay attention too! Haha. .... pink is quite gross for me, and I don't remember wearing a pink top this semester. =\ Haha maybe I did. Haha of course it was fun because you get to eat! No I'm not attached! Heh. I'm available. You want? WHAHAHA.
A loooong day
Something just happened which made this day even more tiring. I was about to complete blogging a post when my laptop stopped moving. Which is this post.
OK.
Never mind.
Anyway...I was saying that...
Upon reading back in my archives, I found some sense of humour in my posts. This is what I like about blogging and why I blog - the story is about myself. I liked my blog, especially with a tinge of funny-ness in it. However most recent posts are day-to-day grumblings. Which has got nothing to laugh about nor anything to enjoy about. Sigh, I'm going to hate reading my archives one day. Probably that's why I named my blog Those Boring News for some reason; one day it'll be at this stage.
I actually thought of funny (in my opinion) things to blog about, but have never gone about doing them because of time and energy issues. I'm not telling the world my story, but I like to look back and senyum. I used to take photos, upload onto my blog, and talk about them. The funny things, the weird experiences, and the embarrassing moments, I'd take pictures or do something loony out of them. But like Mr. Flexi 'I got straight A' Yap said, I got bad time management which explains my poor results. Yes I know that. But I don't know what I can do about it. Yet.
Anyway, today was very tiring. Not only did I not do much homework, I did a lot of extra work. See, time management is really horrible.
In the morning I had to go to the University Hall for the Singapore Chemical Sciences Fair 2007 (I think it's named like that) for my SP1201 module. The facilitator told us we got to present our posters for one of the projects for that event. Supposed to reach there at 9 in the morning, however I overslept (what's new?). There were weird people who came to look at our exhibit and ask weird questions. Kids from a cream-of-the-crop Instition were stumped when my classmates asked them questions, it looked like they didn't even know what they were doing. Oh no, it was a he. Because when my classmate approached and started asking academic stuff about the Instition's posters, the rest of the group avoided and crept away. -_-
When we were dismissed it was 12 plus already I think, and when I left hall for home, it was 1330 hrs. Reached home at 1520, then realised I was very late. Had to wash clothes, pack performance attire, bring necessities back to hall, ate leftover breakfast. My mum cooked some of my favourites for dinner. The pun is, I didn't get to eat dinner. -_- After which I bathed and by the time I left home, it was 5 o'clock. Shit.
Supposed to reach NAFA at 5 plus to collect the tuba mute from Aaron, but it turned out that the mute belonged to Mr. Yeo who dumped it there. Haha. Then when I called Mr. Yeo and asked if he could bring the mute down to me he was like 'I got say I can lend you the mute meh?' But of course he wasn't serious though I was stumped and speechless. Aaron was having lessons, so in the end Yin Xuan brought the mute down for me. Thanks guys, sorry for the trouble.
The thing about carrying a tuba mute around town was that people look at the mute whenever they noticed. Why? Of course it'd be pretty weird to carry a huge metal thingy (though it was a pretty lady carrying it but they didn't bother) around town trying to hail a cab? Speaking of cabs, it took me more than 20 minutes to finally get on a cab. And the traffic jams pulled time and money as well. Was late for NUSWS already.
Someone asked me if the metal thing that I was holding was a cotton candy machine or steamboat. -_-
OK probably there are similarities after all. But hey c'mon if you hold the cotton candy machine the way I held the mute, I guess I'd be wrapped in sugary floss by the time I reached CFA.
Weird.
Band practice today was tiring for me, because I was already tired and hungry. Ate two siew mais and a bun as brunch, and a piece of roti prata which was the left over breakfast. That's all I ate before band practice. During the break I went to get subway. Only got a sandwich, but that was good enough. I came back to hall and heated up Campbell's Chunky. Not bad though.
And I can feel that I'm falling sick. My throat is getting very uncomfortable.
After band practice I walked to the Fong Seng area to meet James to pass him his tickets.
When I reached hall, it was long past 11 p.m. already. ZZZzzz.
And oh, two years already. Time really terbang.
So I'm going to sleep now, selamat malam.
A real-life tuba mute. Want one?
Terrible
There are a few terrible things about myself.
  1. I need to apologise to those people
    1. whose birthdates I remember but I don't remember the date of each day,
    2. whose birthdates I thought I remember but I turn out to confuse numbers like 6 and 8 -_- or I just mix birthdates altogether.
  2. I also need to apologise to those people
    1. who knows me but I walk past you as if you were air. By the time I realised I knew the person who just walked past me, I was usually a step too late to smile and say hi. Sorry, but my eyesight is not good and I don't go around looking at everyone's faces. I'm not pretending to not see you or anything like that,
    2. who thinks I'm cold when I don't say hi. You all were talking so I didn't want to interrupt.
I realised the seriousness of my 'condition' today, because I saw Ismy's SP whom I know too and waved hi, but I didn't realise with him was my SP. Sorry Kendrick. Haha. I felt so weird and embarrassed because he's tall and for some reason I didn't notice that he was one of the guys there.
~~~~~

Ah, so many things to do, so many deadlines to meet. Bloody stressed. And signs of stress are showing already, there are big and small pimples making pores on my face their home. =( Hopefully they'll heal by the time InTempo is here. There is this stubborn pimple beside my nose which is big and not healing. Sighhhh. And my hair has been a bit weird these days, drier than usual. No differences with my daily habits, and I'm sick of trying to find out why. Grrrr.

Pimples and bad hair weeks give me down days. =(

~~~~~
Today is a Friday, yet I can't go home because I have loads of work to complete, I have a project presentation tomorrow morning, band practice tomorrow evening till late. So I'm not sure when I can go home this weekend. Probably Sunday morning and come back to hall at night then. Shrugs.
I just had those pangs, like those I-miss-home pangs. It has been a routine for me to go home on Fridays, so now that I don't get to go home I'm feeling weird.
Saya lebih gembira
Hari ini saya ada sectionals tuba dengan tutor tuba. Tutor tuba bercakap tone saya baik. Tetapi saya tidak in tune.
Saya lebih gembira, sebab saya tidak ada teknik yang baik begitu saya ada tone yang baik, saya sudah gembira lah.
Saya tidak mahu show-off.
Tetapi saya penat dan saya perlu belajar untuk ujian esok. =(
P.S. I think I made a lot of grammatical mistakes. Shall review this again.
How does it feel?
I just got word that a percussion junior in Hai Sing who was two or three years younger than me wants to pull out of his last cycle of chemotherapy.
He was diagnosed with cancer.
I feel so helpless, yet quite angry at the same time as to why he's giving up.
But I don't know how it feels to have a terminal illness, and how it feels to really decide to give up on your life.
I didn't know him well and I still don't.
This is very scary.
I'm already moody...getting worse now I think. My heart is very heavy, now heavier. Can feel the discomfort building up around the chest. Sigh. This is pressurising.
I hate to experience this.
>=(
Midterm tests this week -> screwed. Really really screwed.
Why do I always screw up and forget things that I should know?
And I haven't been doing tutorials this week.
Then last minute I have more lame things to do this weekend. Like I wasted my time going from place to place this week a few times to do some stuff and I have to repeat the same routine, doing the same things again when I get home. What the hell.
Oh so pissed.
Sometimes I wonder if I should be less sinful and be nicer or not.
However in the world of reality, I hate to be a nice person.
Cheers to Daniel Kang who's always genuinely nice.
As days pass I'm becoming a try-hard-to-be-nice person when I don't even feel like being nice at all.
Pissed with everything, really.
Beatbox. Flute. But beatbox + flute?
This guy's quite the ultimate.
But I find his personal habits quite gross. Notice at the end of the clip he used his shirt to clean the mouthpiece of the flute..which is a bit...-_- Ya. But really something fun to hear about.
What June 23 means
Your Birthdate: June 23
People wouldn't take you for a passionate person - and that's where they'd be wrong.
You can develop deep emotions quickly, and you're the type most likely to move in with someone after a few dates.
Number of True Loves You'll Have: 3
Number of Times You'll Have Your Heart Broken: 1
You are most compatible with people born on the 5th, 14th, and 23rd of the month.
The write-up is quite true, just that I won't move in with just anyone. But I don't know about the figures.
I will soon be an 阿姨
Just got the confirmation that my sister is pregnant!!!
Woots. I wonder how their kid will look like.
And by the end of the year, I'll be an aunt.
Yeay.
So exciting.
It breathed its last
My hamster passed away around 2 am plus today. My brother and I saw it lying in a corner of the cage, with no reaction when we fed it food/water or nudged it.
I hope it rests in peace.
Because the other hamster was running frantically around the cage and even trampled on the poor dying hamster a number of times.
-_-
The never-to-be-completed agenda
This recess week I used a lot of time for visiting and not for studying.
Only a few days left to the CAs, and:
Not a single revision completed.
Not a single tutorial completed.
English essay not well done, not revised by myself to upload into TurnItIn. So not done yet.
Next week there are two CAs, many many tutorials (which I think I most probably won't do and therefore lag).
Went visiting today and I tore my dress by a bit. Too fat or too rough.
And I just got to know that I need my dress by this Friday for Chinese New Year Dinner.
Now I don't feel like going at all.
Whatever. Most probably I won't go la, gotta go back to Hai Sing anyway.
Seems like as the end of the semester draws near, undone things are piling up.
Damn.
往事只能回味
Two years ago, Wee Juay and I had this sketchbook we bought from the Popular bookstore at Whitesands to note down our journey together.
In it we stuck the receipts from the eateries that we went to, like Fish & Co. for my birthday, Kenny Rogers at East Coast Park, Pastamania at Tampines Mall for three-month anniversary etc. And Yoshinoya at Compass Point to signify our one-month anniversary. That was after band camp 2005. Haha.
There were also the ticket stubs from the movies we went to, like Swing Girls, My Boyfriend is Type B, War of the Worlds, and of course Hitch, the first movie we watched together.
Oh and the ticket stub from a play at the Esplanade. It was a school thing, but we went on a small 'date' after that. It was then that we really understood how we felt for each other, just that a conversation about it wasn't initiated in any way.
We penned down our first-whatevers in the book, took note of the important dates.
Long after everything ended, I threw the book away. At the basement 1 female toilet in Compass Point about a year ago. I dumped it because the hurt wouldn't go away and all I wanted to do was to forget.
However I wanna read it again now. Don't know what happened to the book, probably visited the incinerator already.
Kind of regretting, because I should have kept the book. A form of memories worth keeping. Now it's gone, gone, gone.
It's the bittersweetness when we were together that I miss.
Good news on a birthday
Yesterday was Sis' birthday. I edited one of our photos together and made fun of her. That's all I did for her birthday, very bo sim right. Haha.
She called me last night and asked if I wanna be 'ah yi', meaning an aunt. And of course I said 'Yessss!' Haha.
She said her pregnancy test kit indicated positive, which shows that she may be pregnant, and she's going to her gynae on the 6th to confirm the results. Yeay. Hope it is true!
But it's still quite a long wait till I'll get to know haha.
Valentine's Day in 2007
This is the 20th year (shit!) that I spent Valentine's Day single. Past relationships didn't last long enough through the day la. Haha. SO, I spent this year's Vday with my hall pals.
Here are the pictures. =D Sit back, relax, and enjoy.
This album is powered by BubbleShare - Add to my blog
Quite a fun day. In the end I didn't go for sectionals because it was cancelled, almost wanted to go down for self-practice since I suck but Amy pestered me to go Plaza Singapura with them. And so I went.
There was Amy, Joanna, Zhi Long, Karthik and me. So the five of us just fooled around the entire night at Swensen's in PS, and the rooftop of VivoCity.
On the way to PS, I shared a cab with Joanna and Karthik. The taxi-driver was damn funny la. Because he was listening to our conversation (which somehow we didn't mind) and he laughed at some parts. Then we talked to him as well, the long and expensive ride became rather enjoyable. Haha.
And there was a lot of cam-whoring throughout the night. =D
Blogging.
Perhaps when I can't think properly, I blog. So there'll be a time that I blog endlessly. Like now. I think I'm going to blog again soon to post up the CNY photos. But not yet though. Anyway.
Sometimes I really wanna have my own space to breathe. The capacity of breathing in and out and feel damn good after that must be really great. Too many things and people around me is suffocating. Most of the time I just want time for myself. Perhaps great time to get distracted by the endless content in the Worldwide Web, and good time to think. Think of many many things. Like now.
Thus it's not that I don't like company. Sometimes I just get too much.
I can't wait for a chance to go overseas on exchange. Get out of my comfort zone, make myself stronger and be more responsible for my own well-being. Meet different people (hopefully the country I go to will be friendly). Learn new stuff, gain new experiences. Please please Erina, do better in your studies and be granted a chance for exchange. However..I know I'll miss home badly. I'll cry inconsolably at the airport before take-off. I'll curse and swear at my choice in going overseas. I'll make my parents worry and spend tons to make me comfortable over there (where?). I'll yell at myself at why I didn't get company to go with me. Will I be able to bring po chai pills over there? I reallllly need them for my weak stomach.
All for the sake of learning to be more independent.
Ah, the point of independence. It is not that I wanna be independent therefore I don't want company, I'll need company there and then. Not ALL the time, I'd fall flat on the floor and die. (CHOY.) You know. No I don't know how to tell you. Maybe it's the less dense air around you when none of the people you're close to stresses you. Or add pressure in any other way.
I wanna breathe properly so I can play the tuba without doubting myself if I can do it. Maybe you can't see the link, but I need to relax before I can play the tuba properly..
And then the list of homework due got to come into my mind during the pieces. Damn.
T_T
I watch reality shows like American Idol and wonder why the people on TV could have friendships that seem so surreal to me yet they're real? What am I missing out? Dawned on me if I'll be able to have such friendships at all. But I'm enjoying myself with the kinds of friendships I have. Then why am I asking for more and something else? Why am I contradicting myself? I'm going 20, and yet I (censored). I hope I forget the censored part in time, because it only describes me as a fucktarded bitch. Seriously.
I want to sleep (but not increase flabs at the same time). Will that happen at all?
Monday, February 19, 2007
Argh
Man, do I hate this.
I really really do.
The festive mood for this year's CNY has been usual, myself getting excited with wearing new clothes and nothing else. New clothes for dear Erina are hard to come by. So. After donning the new gear, I felt nothing much. Maybe just hyper-ing around relatives and goodies.
Speaking of goodies, the weight I've shed the past weeks are back again. Damn. And due to the overloading of much-loved seafood, my skin seems to be poisoned. Ah, that reminds me. What's Poisson distribution again? Sigh. I should've taken stats. Nah, hard to say what will happen.
Anyway, what I'm extremely irritated is that I have completely no mood to do work. I hope to complete as much work and revision. This is actually my recess week in the semester and I got shortchanged due to the Chinese New Year holidays coinciding with this week. And after this week, here come the CAs. Sigh.
How do you plop yourself down on the chair dilligently and concentrate 100% - no I generally concentrate much less than that - and then absorb whatever you need to absorb and pour out what you need to absorb?
Grrr. I've been spending quite some time writing the second draft of my English essay. Of only a roughly 500-word limit and I'm almost going 600. How do you write about current affairs with so little words? I write shit essays now I realise. Not that those I wrote last time were masterpieces.
Ahhhhhhhhhhhh!
What a hectic CNY. Can't enjoy much.
But I met four dogs during visiting the past two days, two at my paternal cousin's, another at my maternal uncle's and another at Felix's. Felix's dog is extremely hyper. It likes to touch people. So happens that it was trying to sniff beneath my dress which is utterly obscene in front of Felix's family. But when the dog calmed down, I was invisible. Haha. My uncle's dog likes to be stroked. Take your hand away and it will nose your hand back to itself. My cousin's dog is unusually quiet this year. Usually it's a happening dog. Whatever. Haha. The other dog I saw at his place belonged to his sister, also a cousin of mine. I love that dog. Seriously. A big dog, however she is very gentle. Will post pictures soon.
Back to work.
AI 6
I've been missing American Idol Season 6 because I hardly watch the telly in hall, on top of that, I always forget to ask my dad or brother to record it on videotape for me.
And so I went on youtube to find any short clips of the performances. Found this damn good one.
Blake is good at beat boxing, but hopefully it won't bring him down. I wanna watch AI 6 all over again!!! It's always because of school that I had to miss some seasons. Hmmph.
Actually I started watching quite late. Only since Season 3. I missed the season where Carrie Underwood was the winner due to the A levels. And watched all the other seasons..Where Fantasia Barrino (Wilson's favourite haha) and Taylor Hicks were the winners. Hey that's quite little. But I love AI all the same.
Selamat Tahun Baru Cina~~
Hey hey hey!
It's Chinese New Year again!
Happy Chinese New Year!!
Hope all of you will breeze through this year and prosperity will come to you!
=D
Ah.
CNY is coming, so many things to do. Work not done yet. Project not done yet. Shit.
Love is in the air
Went to West Coast with Amy Goh Ping Ping today and we bought this dangling ornament made out of hearts. Just perfect for Valentine's Day. You wanna know what I'm gonna do for Valentine's Day?
1. Ujian Mendengar i.e. Bahasa Melayu listening test.
2. MAYBE going NTU to get a tuba from them. Though I really hope I'm not the only one going. Got cheated by Derek to spill out my timetable. Not that I'd lie to him. But I only have two hours free and I need it for lunch. -_- Never mind.
3. I have lessons from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. tomorrow. After which I'll go back to hall for dinner, then leave hall for CFA. Band sectionals. Till about 10 p.m. or earlier.
4. Come back, do homework or some revision.
5. Do I still have time for Vday? Nah.
Woots. So that's the end of Erina's Valentine's Day 2007.
Haha.
Spelling (or typo) errors (don't-know-how-manyth)
I recently chanced upon another signage mistake. This time is more of a grammatical error.
I've been drinking the Pokka Blueberry Tea for some time already, but I've never noticed the words on the can because I bought it for the taste. Quite nice, really. Anyway, it was only just now when I went to get another can that I noticed this:
Although I flunked my English test in NUS I'm pretty sure there's something wrong with the slogan donning the Blueberry Tea words.
Bring you the richest aroma and refreshing taste?
The adjectives don't really agree isn't it. Haha.
This is so fun.
More like 'Bringing you the richest aroma and most refreshing taste'.
I bet they cut the words short due to the limited space, or their English just can't really make it.
Not that mine can, either.
Spring cleaning
The weather has been weird that I don't know if it's spring, summer, autumn or winter. However spring cleaning is still a must. Don't think I'll have the time and the chance to clean my room at home, but I guess at least I'll give my room in hall a cleaning. Heh. Hope it's not just say-say. Heh. Though I can't think of when I can clean. Probably Friday then.
A hotel named after...me
In Florence, Italy, there's this hotel called Hotel Erina. How interesting. However it is quite far from Milan, where the band festival is held. =\ So means most probably I won't get to see it, not as if it's some tourist attraction anyway. I'd be attractive then. =P
Ah, I think Milan is also some sort of the place for high-end fashion => if I were the shop there, clothes will be damn expensive => I'll need to save up more. Not that I'll buy branded clothes, but I think the stuff there as a whole will be quite expensive. Therefore if I don't get anything back for you, don't blame me. Bleh.
No la. I don't really know what is there to get anyway.
=\
Coming to Singapore!!
Coming to the Esplanade - Theatres on the Bay is the Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra! They're damn cute laaa! I wanna go.......someone sponsor me $58 please!
They're a group of Japanese men who plays big-band and jazz and rock and the like. And you see them jump about on stage!
I wanna watch them and have fun! They're so happening and fun-loving. Haha. I want I want I want. (Partially I need to since I gotta watch a concert for PC1327)
You can watch one of their MVs here.
And their webpage is here!
I want....=(
Oh shit. I just realised I have band practice on the day of their concert. A compulsory one. T_T But the concert starts at 11pm. I don't really think I'll be able to make it, I dunno the time for that practice but I think it'll be after dinner to later than 10pm. Oh man..oh man...........I want...T_T
Are you stupid or are you stupid?
"Very stupid!" I replied Amy.
It has been a weekend since I should have blogged about this, but it left my mind for a while la. Haha.
What happened was last Thursday when I needed my thumbdrive to save some work and perhaps find one of my neighbour's printer to print, I couldn't find it. Not anywhere, not in my laptop bag, not on the shelves, drawers, etc. I practically searched my entire room in hall. Then I think I lost it because the Monday of that week, I went to print stuff at Science Co-op using my thumbdrive.
I got real sad, because my brother got me the thumbdrive and to it I hooked a silver keychain that my parents got me. So that entire drive is full of sentimental value. I wept a bit in my room because I didn't know how I'd get my drive back.
So I went to Co-op the next day, and asked the auntie there if she got any thumbdrive as lost-and-found. There wasn't any, therefore I left a note there, saying LOST THUMBDRIVE blah blah.
And it was on that day that I went back to my room after lessons and gotta pack to go home. Was flipping through a stack of papers and my thumbdrive jumped out at me. -_-
Am I stupid or am I stupid?
Sigh. I am getting more and more careless and 糊涂 day by day.
Desktop Earth
My brother introduced me to this nice desktop wallpaper that shows you the time of different parts of the Earth, whether it's daylight or night time. Also, you get to see the kind of clouds that are above land. Quite cool, it'll update every 5/15 minutes or every hour, to your liking.
It is night time in Singapore when I printed this screen, so you can see that Asia is in darkness. Haha. Give it a try.
You can download it here. DesktopEarth.
Italy, I am permitted to come =D
My parents are fine with me going to Italy! Yeay.
So now I gotta hope that nothing which will disallow me to go crops up.
*shakes ass*
Woots. My first time to Europe. And my first time to an overseas band festival. =)
P.S. Please let me have the window seat on the plane! I need one! Haha. Wanna snap beautiful photos of the sky.
~~~~~

It's homestay! *Jumping* So interesting! *Shakes ass*

Quite fortunate that I decided to join NUSWS in year 1, if not I think I'd be missing this festival (and of course the people I got to know in the band).

I am so looking forward to this.

Of love with tubas

I saw Deanna with plastic or crystal French horn earrings today at the Mus'Art concert. They cost her about SGD 4 plus. And I hope got tuba ones laaaaa. So I attempted to go on ebay or whatsoever to see if I can get anything. Some time ago I also wanted bass clef ear studs but to no avail.

So obviously I didn't find anything that I can afford =(

I found this pair of pretty lion earrings!!! Damn pretty laaaa T_T

I'd rather convert them to necklaces if they're large enough, and I really want to own them! So nice!! The lion accessories I came across in Singapore are all fierce and awful-looking lions. Hmm. The lions above may be a bit sissified, but they are graceful and pretty ok. And they cost USD135 or something. T_T I want. So I don't bother about getting them la. Too expensive and they aren't a need.

And the bass clef ear studs! I want... They're USD25 a pair I think. Too expensive. The clefs sold in Singapore are all treble clefs. How irritating.

See the tee designs above that I found on eBay. So cool. If only I can find them in a shop in Singapore. 'Cos I'm not the buy online kind of person. Yet. Unsure about such charges. And the stuff are rather expensive. Maybe I'll go find a shop to print the shirt but I think it'll cost even more.

My. Am I shopping online or something? =\ I've never really felt safe about purchasing things online. But we hardly find these things available in Singapore! Small and so freaking limited =(

Nodame Cantabile

Phew, I finally finished watching all 11 episodes of the J-drama Nodame Cantabile. As the name of the serial suggests, it is about music. Cantabile. But I don't understand why it is named that way.

The show is hilarious la. Credits to Ann Gee who told me about it.

Anyway, it is not a very lovey-dovey show and forever romantic and you cry not because you pity the leads, but because you felt in awe and the jubilation that can be rather...nice. It's some kind of feeling that is a bit familiar in a way that I am a performer too.

NC is adapted from a manga and its anime version, to which the characters are quite alike to the real-life ones. The ending is sweet, those kind that you'll weep. Haha.

The setting is in a music university in Tokyo, so there was a lot of piano and orchestra. Violin solos, oboe concerto, etc. No tuba in sight. =( Never mind... And a lot of Beethoven and Tchaikovsky etc.

I must say that the cast really knows how to act, it was as if they were really the ones playing. Maybe for some la, haha, but I know there was a few substitute pianists.

Oh and the female lead, Juri Ueno as Noda Megumi, was the tenor saxophonist from the movie Swing Girls. And this other also prominent character in the drama was Strazemann, an eccentric conductor from Europe, and the actor also starred in SG as their math teacher-turned-conductor.

Won't be a spoiler so I won't go into the story. And Chiaki is damn handsome! =D

I'm waiting for the second season! If there is one.

Umur

I find that maybe as I grow older, I am increasingly reluctant to accept my age.

!

Of course with my face and the way I carry myself people would laugh their heads off if I tell them I'm forever 16.

It's just that I'm turning 20 this year.

Usually when people ask for my age before my birthday in the year I'll say the age I'm turning into. Uh. As in I'll say I'm 16 when I was going to be 16 on my birthday that year instead of saying I'm 15.

And this time, I say that I'm 19 instead of 20.

Saya takut! Haha.

And out came a pencil

I forgot to bring a pencil to Mus'Art practice today when I thought I threw it in my bag.

When I desperately needed one, I asked Yin Xuan who was sitting beside me if he had one. The next thing I knew, the pencil seemed to pop out of his tuba like magic.

Then I found out what was the 'magic'.

The Ikea pencil

Amazing! Haha. I didn't know there was such an accessory in the market. The black thing is like hooked to the tuba with another holder for the pencil and it costs US$2+. Not a very good deal since it's only a small piece of plastic, but it is rather useful if you do not want to misplace your pencil (which I always do).

Ah, a good invention.

A landmark molecule

Ah. I finally completed the essay. Woots. Time to slack a bit and go back to work. Must be extra extra hardworking this week, it'll be a damn busy week for me.

Just relieved I finished up the essay, but I didn't complete all the 1,500 words needed. I was at about 1,400 plus, including cheating. I typed the question and the bibliography in too. Haha. But excluding the figures' comments la.

Yeay. A load off my shoulder. But actually the second assignment is here already. Quite interesting, it's a group project in 3 (Nathalie and Ayuni are in my group) and we have to take photos of things be it structures, sculptures, etc, that shows chirality. Interesting right. Nathalie got an idea, I got an idea too but I don't know if it's good, and I haven't heard from Ayuni (not Ayumi).

Oh anyway all these are for my SP1201 module.

Upon reflection...

While having a quick shower just now I thought of how I am doing so far in this semester.

Academically-wise, lagging, as usual.

But I'm rather happy with my hectic schedule. It keeps me going, gives myself time to think while rushing here and there.

There wasn't a day in the entire week when I'll sit down in the com hall and have my dinner there without rushing anywhere. Partly because on Mondays and Tuesdays I have lessons from 6 - 8, and Wednesdays and Thursdays I have NUSWS sectionals and combined practice. However I like to rush around. Speeds up my mind a little.

Just hope that all these wouldn't make me lose concentration on my life. Yoohoo.

Back to work, got an essay to rush at the last minute.

Now the love story of grandpas and grandmas

In the previous post, I wrote about my parents' love story. Recently I got to know of two love songs - one in English and the other in Mandarin - about grandparents' love story. They have the same style of expression. Here goes.

Colin Raye - Love me

Verse 1:
I read a note my Grandma wrote
Back in 1923
Grandpa kept it in his coat
And he showed it once to me
He said
Boy you might not understand, but a long long time ago
Grandma's daddy didn't like me none
But I loved your Grandma so
We had this crazy plan to meet
And run away together
Get married in the first town we came to and live forever
But nailed to the tree where we were supposed to meet instead
I found this letter
And this is what it said:

Chorus:
If you get there before I do
Don't give up on me
I'll meet you when my chores are through
I don't know how long I'll be
But i'm not gonna let you down
Darling wait and see
And between now and then
Until I see you again
I'll be loving you . . .
Love me

Verse 2:
I read those words just hours before
my Grandma passed away
In the doorway of a church
Where me and Grandpa stopped to pray
I know I've never seen him cry
In all my fifteen years
But as he said these words to her
His eyes filled up with tears

Chorus:
If you get there before I do
Don't give up on me
I'll meet you when my chores are through
I don't know how long I'll be
But i'm not gonna let you down
Darling wait and see
And between now and then
Until I see you again
I'll be loving you . . .
Love me

Breakdown:
And between now and then
Until I see you again
I'll be loving you . . .
Love me

JJ Lin -

Love story of Dad & Mum

No of course I'm not gonna be too explicit about their story. But it all started with my dad telling me yesterday that they got married because my mum thought he was handsome.

But it was a lie la. Haha.

And I didn't know my dad was hot la. My mum was his fifth girlfriend -_- And his first girlfriend was some girl who was selling stuff at Bukit Timah. During his NS days. Tsk tsk tsk. Havoc.

Anyway, I was damn amused la. Haha. Like my mum telling me why she chose my dad and all. So sweet. Haha. I think my mum's really lucky to have a man like my dad as her husband. Her other sisters don't seem to be as lucky actually. My mum also thinks that she's fortunate. Haha. Like so nice right. Hopefully I'll be as lucky as my mum too.

The problem of being big

There was a bazaar at Central Forum today and I saw a pair of slippers that I quite like, and it costs only $10. Their largest size is 40, so I decided to give it a try. But it proved to be too small for me.

Therefore I didn't buy.

Early last month I saw a dress at Forever 21 that I like. But they only have size M.

I didn't even get to try.

My mum chided me for not buying anything though my dad sponsored me $200 to buy clothes for the coming CNY.

Even my dad complains that I wear the same stuff.

It's not that I don't wanna buy nice dresses and/or clothes and shoes and slippers.

It's not that I don't wanna shop. In fact I do. When I can dig out the time.

It's not that I am picky about places like Bugis Street. I never shop for clothes and shoes there, simply because they have a lot of free sizes or L size that is too small.

It's not that I am reliant on the Western shops which are more pricey. They tend to have bigger sizes. Sometimes.

It's not that I like to wear the same clothes over and over. I don't have much to choose from my wardrobe.

Neither do I have much to choose from the shopping world.

Week 2 of school

Week 2 of school.

Tutorials haven't started yet, only my English module will start this week. Nevertheless, I already have a chunk of homework to do.

Gotta write about a molecule's history, significance, and artistic/aesthetic values for the Freshman Seminar module. 1,500 - 2,000 words.

Another at most 800 word essay for Science of Music. About how sains and teknologi have got an impact on a concert I'm going to watch.

Tutorials to complete before next week.

Linear Algebra homework to hand in by next Monday.

So on so forth. 8 a.m. lecture in the morning, and I'm still awake.

I ought to buck up more.

Juggling six modules, and NUSWS. Will be taking a break from Mus'Art after the concert on 3 February. Yes there's a concert on that day and I haven't been advertising because I don't know much information about it anyway. And then I'll go back for Mus'Art after the exams. That'll be in May.

A very nice gesture from the lion isn't it? A very very sweet one. Aww. I want a kiss from him too. I think I'll be touched to the extent that I'll cry if I really get one from a real lion. Haha.

OK. Back to reality.

I am so problematic

Really. Soooooo problematic. Dad drove me back to hall just now, and upon reaching my room then I realise that I forgot to bring my cell phone. T_T

I should just go and die (again).

Possibility that I'll pass through a week without my mobile if my dad couldn't pass by to pass the phone to me or I cannot meet him due to lessons whatsoever. I gave him Yi Xin's number in an attempt to reach me.

I feel quite handicapped.

Haha. Not the first time that I forgot about my phone when I left the house though. Left my phone in hall and left for Mus'Art practice. Which isn't the most tragic thing yet.

Today's the worst. Haha. How can I forget. With this pace of life now, the speed of communication is no. 1.

Oh and the wake-up calls. Oh this is tragic. So terrible.

=(

What the hell is wrong with me? So careless, so many problems, etc. Die la. Better concentrate on my studies above all else.

I got the Freshman Seminar module already, so everything is settled for this semester other than the tutorials. And that leaves dear me with 3 pathetic Programme points. At least it's P points, won't need that much of it already, since I completed my faculty requirements and only need the points for core modules. So now it's two GEMs and a breadth and more maybe.

Oh last night I rushed to Tampines Regional Library because I found a material that is needed for my Freshman Seminar through the online catalogue. The books were borrowed in the Science Library already -_- So quite happy that I got one book! Quite lucky, because there are only two of the books available, at Tampines and Toa Payoh. And the book is as old as me. So I am quite lucky for now. Heh.

I want my handphone. =(

Life can be so unpredictable

Last night Ai Lin told me that one of her modules got cancelled and her lecture group is supposed to find other modules for themselves, when bidding rounds are already over and it is hard to find another suitable module. So we were complaining about the system last night.

And then when AL came back from lessons today she told me that the reason why the module got cancelled was because her lecturer, A/P Ananda Rajah, passed away. It came as a shock, the most tragic thing I thought that would happen to the module was that the lecturer fell sick or something like that. You can read about the article in yesterday's Straits Times. In short the professor collapsed in his office while discussing a thesis with his student. You can imagine how shocked the guy could be.

This reminded me of last semester when I went to the computer lab to do my programming, and I saw paramedics outside an office in the level and they were trying to revive a man lying on the floor. Could be a professor, I'm not sure. Wonder if the man is healthy now.

There are too many cases of people collapsing when they have been leading healthy lives. I know my time will come one day, but I don't want it to be so soon because I wanna experience all stages of life. I seem to be only in Stage 1 or 2. Still a student and not into society yet. Sigh.

It also occurred to me that if I die, how will people around me remember me? And I wanna live life to the fullest before I can really let go.

Oh man. Quite troubled. =\

The Not-So-Boring News

Came across these articles.

Monkey see monkey do. About seven kids who died when they copied what they saw on TV. That's really dangerous. Apparently they saw Saddam's hanging on TV so they followed the same things. Some of them during playtime. Sigh. Talk about censorship on TV. No wonder I don't remember seeing the video around on the telly in Singapore. I wouldn't want to see anyway. It's scary knowing that kids really do follow what they see on TV.

Ah this highlights how egoistic some bloody males can get. Innately inferior to men?! Oh just go away. Disgusting Mars chauvinist boar. Hope Summers will get more pokes in the eye.

So bloody tired

Came back from NUSWS practice at nearly 11 p.m. due to the very low frequency of the shuttle bus. So tired.

And there are module bidding and tutorial balloting to get me irritated.

8 a.m. lecture later.

I think I'm going to be late for it. Like again.

They're bombing again

This is world unrest. =\

War, epidemic, H5N1, famine, natural disasters, etc.

A pretty shot, but an ugly one as well

And U.S. is bombing again. For some U.S. - Somalia conflict. Islamic militants hiding in some corner of Somalia; I can't be bothered to read on. This will never end.

When will the world have a day of peace?

First day of school

First day of school and I'm bloody packed to my neck.

Took an hour to reach hall this morning though my dad drove YX and I here, due to the usual morning jams.

Then I couldn't go join Daniel to give out flyers for InTempo at Engin. Thank goodness Hui Shan could make it. Couldn't go as I had to clean my room.

And the first lesson of the day was at 12 noon. Science of Music.

At 1 p.m. plus the lecture ended, and I went to get food. Couldn't bid for the Freshman Seminar module because CORS was down. And then after that when the system was up again, I balloted for my English tutorials. Haven't confirmed the tutorials for Science of Music yet.

And then I went to the Dean's Office to check from the admin staff if I can get the Freshman Sem module since the professor had no problems admitting me into his seminar. I emailed him. But because of equity I couldn't go join the seminar if I don't bid. But the thing is, I don't wanna bid for any other modules and I don't have enough points to bid for Freshman Sem. Others were bidding in hundreds. Just now when I checked the next minimum bid was 1212 points. Crazy.

But I still went ahead for the seminar at 1600. The staff also said that I can hope that someone drop the module so maybe I can get to bid. Please let me get the module! I don't know what else to take. Please please please please please.

And then I had Linear Algebra I till 7 p.m. plus. Came back, watched Nodame Cantabile for some hours then I went to bathe and chit chat around till now.

Going to give out flyers tomorrow at Science fac.

Sigh. So many things to worry about. Why do I always start school with such anxiety?

Alright.

Gotta unpack my things.

Bye.

Earned my first USD

I've been subscribing to TIME magazine and yesterday the company from Hong Kong sent a mail to me, containing a survey about Olympus' advertising that I gotta fill up and send back. As I was flipping through the papers, I saw a US dollar note. Puzzled, I wondered why it was there and thought maybe it's just some gimmick and they sent us a counterfeit dollar note.

I stared hard at the note. And I picked up the note and smelled it.

My, the smell of money.

It so happens that the gave us the US$1 as a token of appreciation for us to complete the survey as stated in the letter.

1.0000 USD = 1.5374 SGD (as of 5 Jan 2007)

I could choose not to do, but since they gave me the US$1, I did the survey right away.

Botak Jones

I won't say that it serves extremely good American cuisine, but Botak Jones is affordable, tasty, and the best part - value for money. And the latter can be the worst part.

Haha. Please go there and have a plate of fish and chips. Meanwhile, please share the dish with a friend. It was like a torture consuming my food. But nevertheless I find it quite nice la. Affordable, it's the usual Western food pricing at food courts. Like the huge portion of fish and chips - two pieces of dory fish, lots and lots of chips, and a large serving of coleslaw - cost you only $5.50.

And where to find it? It's in a Kopitiam food court in Clementi, near the interchange. Go to the website and you can see the exact location. And other outlets too.

There's this burger which is made of 3 beef patties coated with cheese. Don't underestimate the patties please, they're damn thick. Very very thick. And it's called U-CRAZY-WHAT? And it's really crazy.

And blogging this makes me recall what a foodie I've been, and I should find time to explore eating places more often. GIVE ME TIME!

But ya, well. It's nice to eat good food in a food court.

Feeling good

Went for the first band practice of the year with NUSWS and I say, though the pieces are tiring (now I get a better taste of running notes which don't seem to end) I quite enjoy my band practice(s). Learning is more effective in a disciplined organisation where members are responsible people. Slowly making friends, and I'm taken aback by knowing quite a lot of nice people in the band. Like they have no conservations in making conversations. That's what I like. People who don't know each other well can still share a laugh. And so I like hanging around NUSWS. Motivation to go for practices. For now.

And I am ultra tired it's hard to keep my eyes open. No exaggeration. But quite a number of things to clear online tonight, so I gotta go do other stuff after posting this.

I'm listening to Poema Alpestre. Really an acquired taste. Love it. But practising it is another thing. Energy consumed to practise the piece is a plate of fries from Botak Jones.

Concerts! Time for advertising again. Take note of the details of concerts I'll be putting on the sidebar. Man, I love the sidebar.

Two new lions

I got two more lions before the new year.

One was from Daniel Kang, the other from Alvin, both are Christmas presents. Daniel passed the lion and a photo frame with a message for me on band camp.

I just went to the post office to collect this parcel that got undelivered because no one was at home when the postman came. Since last Saturday when I knew about the parcel I was rather curious who sent it to me. So after queueing for quite some time today (which is the next working day that I can collect), I opened the parcel.

And saw a lion lying inside the box.

Ah. That's from Alvin. I dunno if I'm to laugh or cry. But I smiled. Thanks.

Do check the updated post on my lions in the sidebar under Features.

Sychronised swimming

Blogging Marathon

There's not exactly such a thing, it's just me blogging all the events that I didn't have the time to blog or was just lazy to blog. A lot blogged and a lot to blog. Links on the sidebar. Help yourselves.

Just a teaser: There was a tiny war that broke out in the post regarding the MacRitchie Treetop Walk. Do take a look =D

=D

What's the smiley face for?

I just shit-ed.

=D

Gathering with JC friends

Went out with Pei Wen, Wei Wen, Jia Qi, Jorcelyn, Hui Ying and Shi Hui. Finally got to meet. And when we met they asked if so-and-so was coming, and I realised there are quite a few people I should've asked. Sorry. The group of us used to sit in the first row in classroom C1-3 back in MJC. Plus Jorcelyn who sat in the second row. So the whole first row was there and Jorce. Haha.

Walked around VivoCity (not again!) looking for a place that we can settle on to have an early dinner. Then we saw the Terra. The thing about this restaurant is that..it doesn't feel very much like a restaurant. Haha. Maybe it's their theme la...and the food..isn't good. Just average and nothing special.

Staring incident in progress
Wei Wen and Jorcelyn

Pei Wen, Wei Wen, Jorcelyn, Jia Qi, me, Shi Hui, Hui Ying
The Swedish ship Gotheborg which docked at Vivo so that people can go on the ship to see-see
Took a photo where SH's included too
Trying to take a picture of Wei Wen who took this picture of me. I.e. we were taking photos of each other

And hey, I didn't suan them a lot throughout the day. See, I've become nicer =D (yea right)

Of fluids and solids

And of the occasional gases, ahem.

Caution: This post may be a bit...hard to consume.

Last week (Oh my time really flies it was last week already) during the band camp I fell sick and then on the third day of camp I got into a bout of nauseousness plus some sort of bowel disorder. Haha. I.e. I thought I was having diarrhoea and have felt like vomitting.

So I came home the next day, felt like I had laxatives, went to the toilet for bigger business and vomitted for the first time in years as well. And I thought I need po chai pills. The ever ready saviour for my gastro-disfuntionalities.

I don't know how I can thank you for the invention of the miracle pills

And like a miracle, no more diarrhoea.

But now the trouble is.

I haven't been shitting.

Brief History of Po Chai Pills

Many years ago (100+ years) there was a plague in China. People there were having stomach-ache, vomiting and diarrhea. A Chinese Doctor was trying to make up a formulation that can cure the people. One night he received a special herbal mix from his dream. The next morning he started to collect the herbs and and gave the people the special herbal mix. The herbal mix was very successful. This Chinese Doctor was the founder of Po Chai Pills and his picture is on every box of Po Chai Pills today.

Po in Chinese means protection. Chai means the people. So the Name Po Chai Pills means protecting the people.

Merry New Year

And while I'm sitting in the living room watching the telly with my mum they were counting down to 2007.

So it's 2007 now!!!

Wow.

I won't say time flies.

But I'd say that nineteen new-years went past already.

And soon it'll be twenty.

Twenty!

Sigh. I need more comforting that I'll still be young. Haa.

This is my post exactly a year ago:

happy new year!!! yeP..happy happy..

new year resolutions?

1. i seriously can be happy.
2. get into university
3. 事事顺利

hope i can pass the next 7 months without thinking too much of the past.

What was resoluted was only #2. And the postscript. I didn't get any happier, and things didn't go well for me. Sigh.

New year resolutions this year?

I just wanna do well in school I guess. But how much determination I have is another issue in my case. I'm getting more and more insolent, more and more tired of schoolwork. However...this is my only route!

I also dunno what I want to do when I graduate. I hope some companies can offer me jobs before I graduate (which is nearly impossible).

Ah. New year resolution: stop daydreaming and get down to real world work. And stop procrastinating.

Oh and anyway, I just blogged about the MacRitchie Reservoir Hike. Take a look at it. Link is on the sidebar.
