过了就过了

I wrote on the whiteboard last night, "Wake me up at 7.30am!" And I set an alarm for myself which usually got no use. Then when I woke up at 0730, I..uh..fell asleep again. And the next time I woke up was at 0920 or so, when my dad called me on my handphone and asked me why I needed to wake up early. I was like, I got competition today! (The reason why my family will never know when my competitions and concerts are is that they can't be bothered to remember.) When I hung up and saw the time I was like, shit. Then SMSed Candice to inform her. I had to reach school at 0930 actually.

I'm just not the wake-up-early kind of person. Yet.

Then I crept to the kitchen and my brother was there. He saw me and gave me a shocked look. He thought I left the house already.

My mum even bought breakfast for me. She thought the scribbling on the board was just me asking my family to help me record TV shows.

T_T

So, ya I was late. So I missed some storytelling session and tuning.

I realised I forgot to bring my collar pin upon reaching school. Called Felix for help but it slipped out of his mind. Took from Sabrina, luckily she had an extra pin.

Took some photos before we left for VCH.

Joel, me, Wee Kiat
Benny, me, Joel

Jie Ying and Hong Wei were trying to imitate how I pose in photos.

You could try harder
My eyes are not soooooo small lo, Jie Ying
Ju Ling and me
The tuba section
Me, Kai Ling

And so on so forth, and we met Felix and Kai Yan at VCH. Since I needed to leave straight after NBC I needed someone to help me hold on to my bag and return it to me immediately after MJ's turn in the limelight. And that person was Felix. Hahaha........and he carried my bag and waH so chio.

Anyway, I thought we played not up to expectations as well as our usual standard during practices. It's quite sad la, actually. We didn't put in our best! I cocked up a lot too.

When I first stepped onto the stage the rest of the band was more or less settling down already. Then Ms Sia came in, I didn't have time to adjust my file and it wasn't opened fully and the previous pockets were blocking my view from the Colonel Bogey score. I relied on memory as well as prediction. How to concentrate?

On Jericho, I didn't notice the playing of the other sections since I was rather engrossed and distracted at the same time. I don't know why such things always happen during competitions! Then I played wrong notes, I can't focus on my own music, and I can't remember what I was hearing during playing the piece. Shit me. Ever since the first competition that I went for, I had never ever played my best. Never.

I always conclude the competitions by blaming myself, 一直不停地责怪自己。I really hope that I can take part in a competition that I go up the stage with a breeze and feel extremely confident of myself! But in all, it seemed too late. This may be the last time I take part in a competition with a school.

The bell of my tuba faces outwards, and I was rather bothered by it. Nerve played a part too. I was afraid that I may be blaring too much towards the audience, judges included. My fingers got tangled around the pistons. This tuba model gave me some problems also la.

But still, I should have more confidence! I'm always regretting after competitions. So sick of myself. Pissed. I keep shuddering and wonder if I was the one who brought down the band..heard the recording and I dunno if I'm right but I thought the bass wasn't steady enough to support the band. Dunno la! 烦死了。

After the competition I returned stuff that I needed to, and took a cab over to SCH.

When I reached I took out my tuba (make that an affair to the MJ one) but I didn't join them for rehearsals, since Mr Shuichi was taking them for Rhapsody in Blue which is quite a long piece. After that they did Petite Suite, which I wasn't playing, and finally went up after sitting in the audience for 45 minutes. I was chatting with Mrs Chua for a while though.

I think Mrs Chua is happy with the kids la, since they're just Sec 2s and 3s and they can get an impressive 79% plus for the NBC. They're just decimals away from a Gold medal, but it doesn't matter!

I am proud of my kids.

During dinner time I was a bit more frantic regarding the results. Called Hong Wei and he said RGS was good. Sigh.

When I finished eating I was just sitting there staring into space and grabbing my phone tightly waiting for a sign of vibration.

In the end how did I know the results?

Wei Jie told me. Like irrelevant right?

What happened was Wysen SMSed him immediately after the results were announced. And with all the hype and vibe at VCH I was forgotten for a moment! It was only minutes minutes minutes later that Felix SMSed me. A bit disappointed why things were that way, like I was waiting and waiting and waiting. But ya, whatever. Shan't be too sensitive.

I felt numb about the results la..like wondering if we deserved it. We didn't come out as the top 3. It was Maris Stella, TKGS and RGS that made up the top 3. It's a bit...devastating would be overstating it, but we're the only college there. Excuses: MJ team included alumni, but we didn't have a lot of time to consistently practice like the secondary schools can. The students have their mid-year exams at the end of the holidays. Secondary schools have more time. And I heard that Maris Stella included alumni as well as outsiders, people with no roots to Maris Stella at all taking part. Competed in the name of Maris Stella for the sake of music.

So...I got nothing to say la. Just that I was quite happy when I got to know this band I really disliked didn't do well. Shall not name which. You know yourself la. If you don't know, it doesn't matter at all.

In conclusion, MJ got gold and fifth in the 1st division. Give yourselves a pat on the back!

MJ's turn

Yep, in just hours more.

Scared sia. Hope I don't screw up and the band play their best and enjoy their time on stage and everything.

Good luck!

And after the competition I need to fly down to Singapore Conference Hall to join Mus'Art for the rehearsal. They're starting the rehearsal at the same time as MJ onstage.

I need to drink Red Bull.

Red Bull gives you wings!

Cheesy treat

Yi Xin and I went to Pizza Hut for dinner after today's programme. It had been some time since I had pizza, cheesy ones.

We had this new pizza called Cheesy Bites with Hawaiian Supreme flavour.

You actually pull out the cheese-filled parts (the crust) and enjoy the cheesy feeling...

The pineapple chunks, ham and chicken, not forgetting cheese
Look at the cheese~

And it was quite an expensive meal. I'm crippled.

Maternal instincts

You know, as you grow, some of you may develop this kind of feelings where you worry endlessly for others younger than you, sometimes older, and you just want to look after them all the time. Make sure you're always there for them, be their pillar, be their support.

Parental instincts.

For me, the mummy side of me has been reacting terribly today.

I was on the verge of crying la, was soooooooo anxious for Hai Sing. Because of MJ practice at 4pm I couldn't get to watch them. Only can rely on updates from my girls as well as Yi Xin they all.

Couldn't really concentrate and was sighing all the way at MJ. Even Candice had to sort of console me. Hong Wei had to tolerate my frustration.

Then at the end of band practice, that's about time that the results will be announced. Chiaw Hong, the HSC Tuba SL, SMSed me and said the last band just finished playing...which is Mus'Art. Heard from Ms Sia that they did very well. Fantastic.

I glued myself to Ms Sia for most of the time while waiting for the news.

Got to know that Hai Sing got Silver, before the announcements were made at VCH.

I couldn't believe it.

Maybe it was because I can't get used to the feeling of getting Silver - which I have never got any and hopefully not - and I thought Hai Sing'd do well.

My kids what. Have faith in them.

Then well, reality kicked in, they really got Silver.

Yep was disappointed. Extremely.

But I got the hang of the situation, so I was fine shortly after. Just pretty worried about how my juniors were feeling la.

Ms Sia enlightened me here and there la, I needed to show a confident front to my juniors too. Like later if they see the seniors so disappointed they'll feel worse right? Haha.

Yea...and Ms Sia sent me, Kai Ling, Sarah and Hong Wei to Hai Sing after which Hong Wei went home.

When it was almost dark the buses transporting the band members came back...and when my juniors saw me, Zhi Wei said I missed a tsunami. I didn't get them till I saw that Amanda's eyes were still wet. Then I realised.

AiYa, doesn't matter la. Make this a lesson! Strive for SYF that you all will definitely bring a Gold medal home! You all are comprised of only Sec 2s and 3s and you can get 79% already!!! Just give 1% to the welfare of the world and you'd be a happier person too! Don't think too much, your seniors are always around!

I wondered about what made them not score well...some reasons, yea I know. But not to be disclosed.

Must be the uniform.

Some corny video

Kai Yan showed me this video which Felix told me that a speaker during PCCG played for them in the school hall on Thursday.

It's damm stupid. But very very funny!

I cried!

I was just laughing at Candice last week for crying while watching Ghost Whisperer. Last week's show to me, wasn't that touching la.

This week's? Fwah. I cried la!!!

Really damm sad leh.

Don't wanna talk about it la. Later I type and weep again. Hahaha.

And lately Desperate Housewives is getting a bit touchy. Touchy as in, touching of the heart. It is a bit sad to watch too. Like even though you know the housewives can get quite bimbo-istic but then they're human after all.

National Band Competition 2006

Well, this event is ongoing while I'm typing away here. Sigh.....

Supposed to go watch Hai Sing at the NBC, they're performing at 4pm plus. But got MJ band practice later............so gave up my ticket.

I'm soooooo worried for the girls la! The girls as in the girls in my section la of course.

Then Ms Sia told some of the Hai Sing seniors in MJ that Mrs Chua said Hai Sing is doing well!!!

*激动*

Haha...and I'm like freaking scared and damm sad I can't be with them la..like at least watching them at VCH, as if they need me and can sense me, wth.

Hahaha. But damm sad I can't watch leh...think I'll be damm worried la! I think it'll be hard for me to concentrate at MJ later.

Jericho

"So the people shouted, and [the priests] blew with the horns. And it came to pass, when the people heard the sound of the horn, that the people shouted with a great shout, and the wall fell down flat, so that the people went up into the city, every man straight before him, and they took the city."
~Joshua 6:20

No no, I'm no Christian. Was just doing some self-research about this Jericho, I didn't even clearly know what it was about till just now. What sparked my interest in researching is that MJ band is playing Jericho by Bert Appermont for the NBC and at some point I didn't know what was going on.

I still don't quite understand la, I didn't find out who exactly Joshua is.

FYI, Jericho is a town in the West Bank, near the Jordan River.

So part 1 of the piece, "Years of Exile" was illustrating the cruel journey through the desert into Canaan. Emotional, with regards to the desire for a home and all. I don't know what is supposed to go on at this part of the story, like who is crossing to Canaan and whether this Canaan is anywhere near Jericho. Jericho is a town in the West Bank, near the Jordan River, by the way. I think Joshua was leading the Israelites to Canaan for protection, since he is going to bring down Jericho and did not want to harm the Israelites. Think so la.

Part 2, "The Battle of Jericho", is the part I understand best. It's about the Lord asking Joshua to conquer Jericho or something. I got this from Wikipedia:

The Lord spoke to Joshua telling him to march around the city once every day for six days with the seven priests carrying trumpets in front of the ark. On the seventh day they were to march around the city seven times and the priests were to blow their trumpets. This Joshua did and commanded his people not to give a warcry until he told them to do so. On the seventh day after marching around the city the seventh time the priests sounded their trumpets and Joshua ordered the people to shout.

So this is where the tom-tom and timpani got the solo during this part of the piece. The screaming part in the score was optional, but I thought we'd portray the story better if we did give warcries.

The walls of the city collapsed and the Israelites were able to charge straight into the city. The city was completely destroyed except for Rahab because she had hid the two spies sent by Joshua. She and all her family were spared. After this Joshua burned the remains of the city and cursed any man who would rebuild the city of Jericho at the cost of his firstborn son.

Yep and someone did rebuild the city at the cost of his firstborn son.

Part 3, "Victory" is a very very fluorishing part where we illustrate the expressions and feelings of Joshua and the Israelites when they won the city. Ms Sia said we should capture the hearts of the audience. Yes yes, we should.

Part 4, "Celebration". Well, of course you will be celebrating for your victory. This part is a lively Jewish dance so....dance!

Oh do you know that Bert Appermont is a young guy? He's born in 1973 la. Super young. And he composed pieces like Noah's Ark and Jericho. Great guy, he is.

You can read the whole thing if you have the Bible. In the Book of Joshua.

Latest news

This piece of newspaper was delivered to my door just now and the headlines caught my eye.

Blow up the picture if you can't read clearly.

Frustrated

Many things are on my mind recently and I found it hard to blog...always tired and occupied with band practices, or problems which are just stupid cropped up.

A bit no mood to blog.

AiYa. Was discussing with Yi Xin about some blogging stuff and I realised how much I really treasured my blog and I wanna make it unique.

I dunno what's the big deal about blogging, things just seem like....I don't know.

I just hope that when I look back at my entries again, or when I look at my own blog now, I'd be happy because it's a manageable diary. Don't have to worry about smudges and awful handwriting and spoiling the look of this whole thing, and I can just upload pictures without having to print them into hard copies and paste them into pages of a book. Saves the hassle yea? From last year I just wanted to keep track of my life so that I know myself better. It's not just dwelling on the past, it's more like...I don't know how to tell you la. It's just that I can reflect again on my weaknesses and not forget about my weaknesses. Sigh. Neverr mind.

I'm just very very very very very protective of my blog. VERY.

It is It!

It is Italy!

The winner of World Cup 2006!

Well, it's not as if I'm celebrating for them, it's just the first and last complete match that I watched for the whole WC season. Then I make a fuss out of it since it was the finals.

I'm the sort who waits for everything to almost end then take notice. Didn't know what will happen, didn't know who'd win.

But Kimberly told me 'France will win,' as a matter-of-factly.

Felix was telling me he supports the winners - France. He used to support another team. Used to. If I'm not wrong.

And while I was watching the match and at the 7th minute when Zidane shot in the penalty, I was like, 'OK, I shall stand by Italy' since France has it's fair share of supporters. Going against the odds, this is what I call it. And my intuition was telling me that Italy would win.

Yi Xin and I were SMS-ing throughout the match, and she was on France's side. Can't tell you how I was howling with glee at the 19th minute when the magical head equalled the score. And how Buffon blocked Zidane's header away from the goalpost with a magical hand.

And then everyone knows what I'll be talking about, Zizou's headbutt. The world shall condemn Materazzi because from the footage we all know it was surely something Materazzi said. And I read the papers today,

Materazzi admits to insulting 'arrogant' Zidane

But what it seemed like was that Zidane started it.

"I held his shirt for only a few seconds, he turned towards me and scoffed at me, looking at me with super-arrogance, up and down: 'If you really want my shirt, you can have it later.'

"It's true, I shot back with an insult."

Materazzi claimed that he did not insult Zizou's mother or anything of the sort, but those kind of insults that you hear a lot. Probably things like 'F*** you'. That's a lot that we hear in Singapore.

At least Mat was honest, just how much honest, we do not know.

People who were interviewed and obviously on Zidane's side were of course saying that Mat insulted Zizou calling him a terrorist and the sort. Just a few days only and I saw all sorts of lip-read experts giving all sorts of different analysis to what Mat really said.

Zidane already made known his side of the story, and we all know that Materazzi insulted his mother and sister like what Zizou said. Zizou's mum even commented that she wanted to cut off Materazzi's testicles for insulting her. (-_-") Who's right, who's wrong, we don't know.

Zidane won't want to end his career like that anyway.

Just that the both of them should be punished.

But then again, Italy won!

Man, I should have placed a bet. For the pasta.

The new car

Yesterday my dad went to collect his new car, a Nissan Sunny. Sort of a family-oriented car, not a family car, and...yea luckily we didn't get the SGH car plate. Got an SGJ one instead.

I only got to sit in the car today, after forcing my dad to drive me around. And when I saw the actual colour of the car, I was like, 'Eeyer! Why the colour like that?'

Eeyer! So ah pek!

Well, I can't blame my mum for choosing this colour anyway, it's their generation. I wouldn't know what colours to choose if I had a choice, but I know I won't go for white, black, silver/grey, or gold. Too many cars of this colour.

If I have a choice to change it now, I will put a very outrageous colour I guess. Pink? Nah. Too girlish. Green, maybe...I'd think I won't mind the green of the background of my blog. Or blue. Not the Comfort taxis blue though. Dunno la. I just don't like this gold colour that I'm looking at. I know! I'd love to have purple. But purple doesn't complement a Nissan Sunny. Too weird.

This colour is more of the gold colour, kim kim ma, then people will like so that they can huat zai. So cannot blame them lo. It's their colour. =D

Alert!

We had to install this sign at the front and back of the car because my siblings are detached drivers. As in, they're detached from driving for too long a time you can say that they forgot how to drive. Since they're unfamiliar with driving, we ought to let the other road users know so that they can compromise the car.

Spinning around in Tampines

This is my dad

It says 'Departure'

Oh, my dad drove us to the airport but instead of asking to go to the nicer-looking Terminals 1 & 2 I asked to go to the Budget Terminal. It's more inaccessible because you only have a shuttle bus to bring you there from the main terminals. The Budget Terminal is really budget. The words like the 'Departure' above are not painted there, they're pasted there. I'm not sure which way is more 'high-class', but budget being budget the words are there as glossy plastic-ky stickers. No skytrain no nothing. Well, it's quite an empty airport. Only Tiger Airways is running in the terminal currently. There's a Han's there though.

The supposed-to-be night view of town
My inexperienced brother behind the wheel

My camera is not a good one, it's shutter speed is damm slow and I can't use a flash in the car anyway, so the pictures that came out are horrible. I can't stop the car in the middle of the ECP so that I can take a picture of Suntec City and the high-rise buildings in town at night.

Alright, it's time for me to plan a time to take driving lessons. Sunny, here I come!

Interesting practice

Today at Mus'Art practice was the first time I saw Mr Shuichi. He's a Japanese conductor invited to conduct a few pieces for Rhythme Et Blues.

I like the way he conducts! Very precise movements and a lot of efforts on his wrists. You easily know what he wants just by watching him.

A very interesting man, I think, because he's Japanese, but speaks English with an American accent. We can easily understand his speech.

He's very..uh..sensitive is the word. Like we played badly and he'll be like....'Good! But not enough for "great!"' So we all know he can't find a better word to describe how we played in a nice way. =)

HSC Alumni Band BBQ

We had a barbecue for the alumni band at Pasir Ris Park Pit 19 and saw people whom I haven't seen for years coming. Some became more *ahem* auntie, some were this, some were that...

I had fun la, the food, the ambience (we were under the shades of two trees), the fun, the forfeits...ahh. So funny.

Hong Wei walked me to Pasir Ris Park from MJ since I don't know how to reach there. Had a nice chat with him la, after soooooooooo long.

Not exactly a lot of people turned up la actually, but we had enough fun lo. And that Cedric Lee had to go for night-cycling with his OG >=P

One thing about BBQs is that, if you were to organise one, buy lots of water! Almost every BBQ that I went to there will definitely be a water shortage.

I don't have a lot to say, just that....I had fun!

A turn for the better

There was band practice today.

I thought I heard Candice say that it was going to start at 8am and I tried my best to reach on time but alas I reached at about 0825. When I reached there people haven't even settled down and there was an exco meeting in the bandroom. Saw Candice at the door and she said we had to reach at 0830. (-_-") I woke up super early can. Though I plead guilty of continuing to lie on my bed till about 7am.

Anyway, had sectionals, things took place and I found the section wasting time instead and wasn't quite happy about it. Competition is only a week away yet I don't feel the intensity. So spoke to them during sectionals and after that went for lunch with Joel since we were the only J3s there.

Wee Juay came for practice today, I don't know how he managed to make it. When he walked past me (he had to since I sat beside the door to the storeroom) he said hello to me. Shocking right? Yea I was shocked. But of course I said hi back and then Hong Wei was like, 'Ya I saw him saying hi to you. And I saw you saying hi back. Thought you'll jump in joy.' Haha ya I kept smiling to myself la because....well, things turned for the better. It was exactly a year ago when he left. I didn't ask why he's talking to me again since we only managed to chat over SMS and messenger for a few months only. Think I don't wanna know. Just enjoy the present.

The Lake House

I was watching the pre-movie advertisements while waiting for Superman to start and saw the trailer of this seemed-to-be very very nice romance.

I quite like the story and am very interested to watch it!

Seems like another lovey-dovey show to sway teenage girls (yes I am talking about myself, Felix) and like so sweet la! It's a special fiction to start with ma.

Stars Sandra Bullock and Keanu Reeves.

In the movies from 27 July 2006.

Superman Returns!

I went to watch Superman Returns with Daniel this afternoon.

The show was...well, quite disappointing la.

Firstly, I didn't know that was the end of Lex Luthor, the enemy of the story. Like Superman wrecked his island and he escaped to a lone island and ta-daa that's it.

And Superman won just like that.

Well, I can't deny the fact that I found Brandon Routh (the actor casted for Superman) is darn handsome. Not exactly handsome-handsome, but he's absolutely charming on his superhero role.

Ahh. So charming. *melts*

No la. Anyway, the story really no climax one. It's until the show is over then I realised 'Oh, that part is supposed to be the high of the movie.'

And then when Superman fights and is beat, his 'uniform' dirty and hair messed up, the twirl on his fringe will still be neatly - well - twirled.

But the effects were good enough la, the beginning effects of like flying in space and announcing the cast at the same time were making me dizzy. They were not as spastic as when you watch the Superman films in the olden days la like they put explosives to have effecs and the sort. Things looked more real this time.

I grew up with Barbie and Sailor Moon, and not Superman. So I dunno why I agreed to watch this show. Didn't even know what Superman was about.

She's the bimbo, I must say

Why must we wear school uniform for the National Band Competition? She dunno how to spare a thought for the alumni! It has been about half a year since I last wore the uniform! It's not as if the black number is casual!

So absurd! >=(

And why did the exco still allow this idea to carry on? Ah I'm shooting at committees again.

But really what. Why can't they just voice out? Didn't the President found it ridiculous that they're going to wear the school uniform, which is of course the more low-class one compared to the fancy blazers of the other secondary schools?!! All-black is more mature to look at! Call themselves the committee! Yea yea, criticise some more Erina.

People told me that it's HER idea. HER. Again.

It's not as if this just some school performance or event, she doesn't realise the importance of this competition!

So now what? I'm darn pissed la. I was already thinking that oh since we're definitely going to wear all black for NBC I can just run to SCH after the competition wearing the same thing and don't have to bring extra stuff.

What the hell....

I took my black top and pants for granted. Sorry girls. (I'm not apologising to the court shoes because that pair isn't mine and it is quite tight)

And then I wonder if I really want to play because I'm tired already and I have this stupid thing to fret about! Ya the alumni are loyal to the band, but that doesn't mean that they go to the extent of wearing the school uniform!

I don't even know what was the fate of MY school uniform! Don't remember if it got dumped or stored.

I am really pissed with her, her decisions are always causing problems, giving the band obstacle after obstacle and Ms Sia is already very sick of her decisions!

She is reaaaaaaaaallly brainless, not that I want to say! I need to know why she always make this sort of decisions! It's like she's the only one calling the shots!

All of a sudden I think the band lived better with the Crap of KT. At least those crap are not that influential to the band's happiness. It was just some stuff we could live with.

We always say that this other in-charge is like a bimbo. So vain, always wear very 'fashionably', but I reckon she's not the bimbo. THAT ONE is the bimbo. Serious.

Where can I voice out? It's so crazy!

She's damm problematic. I hope she goes into a year-long maternity leave and leave us alone.

Practical decisions please.

Well if you all decide to frame me and report this post to the authorities and I'm forced to shut this blog, you're playing the role of the bad guy. Happiness is in your hands.

They're supposed to be cuddly

But sadly these furry creatures aren't for you to hug or squeeze.

The verdict - pigs are thinner than hamsters

In fact, they're actually speakers. You know, speakers for your computer, laptop, mp3 player, whatsoever. REALLY!

My brother bought them and we were testing the hamster speakers. My bro played a song on his laptop and you hear the voice coming out of the hamsters' tummies. So cute la.

Made in China.

First ticket - SOLD!

Finally, after weeks of waiting........I sold my first Mus'Art ticket! To Jie Ying, who felt honoured. Hahahaha..

Mai is back!

Went to welcome Mai back to the Sunny Liony Island. Asked Wei Jie if he wanted to come, then Serling and I decided to meet, and she said Xue Li's coming along too.

Ya and then I forgot I had to go for the NUS checkup so was quite afraid I couldn't make it. But things went pretty smoothly by then.

So long never see Serling already! She sports long hair now hahaha.

And it's been half a year since I last saw Mai. Still the same old Mai la. I mean, young and lively and....crazy. Haha.

We decided not to follow Mai home and so we had lunch at Popeye (at my request). Fattening. Argh.

Serling had to go back to school, Xue Li went to meet her friend, so Wei Jie and I went back to Hai Sing for practice la. On the way there from Pasir Ris MRT, this cat was sleeping happily on the side of the bridge leading to Hai Sing from the town park.

Just slept there though people were cycling and walking on the bridge

So cute right? Yi Xin found it gross. But cute what...I didn't dare go nearer, was afraid it'd jolt up and scare me also haha.

Unlucky day

I've never felt more suay in my entire life. Or to make it sound nice, more blur.

Shi Hui & co. told me about the medical check up and I was very very traumatised and scared by it.

I only slept for a few hours since I wasn't used to sleeping early, and since I was to sort of welcome Mai back to Singapore after half a year today, I needed to get to the airport in the afternoon. So Yi Xin suggested to meet at 7am at Tampines this morning. I usually wakes up when the clock strikes noon, or later.

Due to unforeseen circumstances that we cannot control Yi Xin wasn't able to make it to NUS with me for the medical check-up. Hence bright and early, Erina has to make it to NUS alone, which isn't a good idea at all. Erina is very sotong when you leave her alone in a strange place. This is unlucky situation no. 1.

No. 2 occurred on the SMRT. This woman whose size you'd estimate to be on the very positive side of the scale kept sweeping her Today paper against my mypaper. What is your problem? Kept disturbing me la. Not just that. She kicked my feet which seemed to be by accident a few times and still can pretend like nothing happen. It's as if she is too used to stepping on others' toes that she can't be bothered anymore. I gave her a face (which sadly she missed it) and I moved away. She scared she cannot alight la, I was standing near the door. Irritating. Not a good way to start the day. Quite an eyesore also because she was in a mini denim skirt which didn't flatter her at all.

And then I reached NUS' University Health and Wellness Centre for the checkup at 9am. What an idiot I was. I went to the counter and registered, paid the fee, filled up a pink form, and sat down waiting for my number to come. I sat there for like, 35 minutes? Then I heard the magic word 'Please proceed to Counter E after filling up the pink form ah!' Great, no one told me and I was just sitting there waiting for 3810 to appear on the digital board. No. 3.

The auntie at E takes your height and weight and vision. When I was there I was a bit traumatised by the increase in weight because it was right on the overweight mark. I was just hoping that I could be taller by a bit so that I'll escape that range. I was quite distracted and the nurse led me to the vision place after taking weight. And I was like, 'No need to take height?' 'Need, need! Go take height first!' So in a hurry I was there and the other nurse announced 173.5 cm. Crazy! How did I manage to grow by 3 cm??? And then... ... ... I realised I was still wearing my slippers. But the slippers could be no more than 2 cm! So I guess the problem could lie with parallax error.

When I reached the urine test station, the nurse asked me why I took so long. I told her I didn't know I was supposed to proceed to the station like immediately. 'Oh!! Poor girl!!' Yea. Nice and sweet lady. She said very good after testing my urine. Bet I didn't eat unhealthily then. Haha.

So I wasted so much of my time, I was rather flusted. Waited for my number which thankfully came quite quickly, and I got into the room and let the doctor check my body if I have some growth or those sort (I had to half bare myself). And yeay finally time for X-ray then I can balik kampung. Had to remove bra and wear back your shirt lo. T_T

And the person who took our X-ray was a male guy. Hmmph.

Met two nice girls during the queue. =) Some unconditional emotional support. Yea, whatever.

I went to the canteen downstairs and got a barley drink and a piece of agar-agar. The uncle looked quite fierce I didn't dare ask for a carrier. So had to finish the drink asap. At the bus stop, I was trying to pack my jacket into my back when everyone at the bus stop stood up and flagged the bus. I got frantic and saw ya the number starts with a 9 so it's my bus. I'm supposed to take 95. Then I got up the bus and immediately I saw the view is getting very...never-seen-before. Shit. I turned back to see the plastic card at the back of the bus and realised I was on 96 instead. T_T It's a longer way and leads me to Clementi instead of Buona Vista and I was further away from the east. Sigh. No. 4.

And after that things went quite smoothly for the rest of the day.

Towards complete wheelchair-friendliness

Before I start, I was shocked to learn that Brazil was out! After all those hype that they're going to win I was like, wow. Then now I'm not really interested in the finals liao la...like all European countries and I don't know much about the players in the four teams left - Germany, Portugal, Italy and France. I mean if Brazil wins it'd be ya, it's expected, but now I don't feel like being entertained by the matches. Doesn't matter. There's Desperate housewives tonight! And on Friday there's The Ghost Whisperer. I caught an episode of that in Melbourne and I liked it! It was about this girl who is the Ghost Whisperer, and it's like the dead who have unfinished business with their loved ones or whatsoever will find her and ask her for help. But those alive dunno she can't communicate with them la. Nice show, really. Premiering this Friday at 10pm, Channel 5.

There is this new range of wheelchair-accessible buses that I took while going to Hai Sing last Thursday. Quite a comfortable ride lo. Yi Xin was on such a bus too, she was on the 21 behind me, so waited for her and took a picture of the bus. A stylo mylo one.

It is like the Batman of the road.

The smell behind the new computer table

My brother bought a computer table along with an office chair.

I saw the Courts truck came and I thought the table is coming too. In the end it was a whole big truck delivering just a chair to us. (-_-")

After that the supplier people for Courts came to fix the computer table. There were 3 men in total, and one needed to use the toilet. I was using the comp in the living room when I smelled shit. I turned and saw the toilet door CLOSED. It was still closed and it had about a 10-cm gap. Just through this gap enough air escaped from inside. It was darn smelly la! T_T I already put the fan in my face I still can smell it. Wah lao. Gross lo. I decided not to go to the kitchen for the time being and my coffee mug is still there la...going to get stained already lo.

Blow wind blow!
Blow what??
Blow the reeking smell away!
PLEASE!

Wah! Boom.

Oh that's nothing much actually. Just the sound of Erina falling and after landing flat on a hard surface.

It was at the main entrance of Jurong Green CC, after Mus'Art practice.

Erina fell here on 25062006

I fell there last week and I was wearing jeans and my Converse jacket. So didn't get any abrasions and didn't leave any bloody mess. Didn't get too dirty too, the surface was dry. Had a bruise on my left knee though. But was well enough to meet Alvin for dinner after that la and till today, the bruise is better already.

Oh to add on of course I didn't fall to that extent. I landed on my palms (though it's not a good idea to end with) and on my right hand I was holding on to my phone. Didn't ram the whole gadget on the ground, thankfully. Phew.

Mus'Art's scores are very enjoyable. But very challenging too.

And Mrs Chua needed to take a cab home, so Wei Jie, Hansel and I took with her since it was 'on the way' not exactly la, everyone's going to the East ma. I did something I felt happy for. I walked home from Simei MRT! Took me about twenty minutes plus. It's been long since I last exercised.

Commenting on an advertisement

There's this advertisement I forgot by which firm. There were some text asking something like 'If your life were a movie, would it be interesting?'

Mine won't be.

If my life was a movie, it wouldn't be a good one. Other than playing the tuba, I'd be clearing my room half the time. How good can this get? You want to see me clear my room?

Those Boring News

Also known as Erina's blog.

Well, from The Straits Times to mypaper (我报) there surely won't be thrilling news everyday. In fact, after the General Elections, I haven't had a piece of news enough to entice me in the mornings during breakfast. It's just all flipping...well maybe you could say that the World Cup is interesting, but nothing beats watching the match itself. FYI, I don't have cable so can't really watch..I have Malaysian channels though. =Þ

Recently the case of the double murder that happened in January 2002 was closed and Briton McCrea was guilty. Case gone. What else? A maid fell off a HDB flat, but The Sunday Times yesterday just had a small article on it. Not enough news to publish at press time perhaps.

We can't complain that the news are boring most, if not all of the time. We just didn't make enough events to make them interesting.

Green, just green

The first green part of me, you guys witnessed it only on my blog. But you didn't know..I almost changed everything to green as far as I can! I started with a green theme for my Windows taskbar, then I changed my blog to green, then I changed my Yahoo! mail to green too. Great! I'm green all over. I want to find a green top. That'll complement everything.

Why green?

I was sick of the blue taskbar and decided to change it to green. Silver looked plain too. There was only blue, green and silver to start with for me. Then the pink of my blog and mail doesn't fit with the taskbar and I didn't like that so..........everything turns green. Haha.

Hope showing parts of my computer won't tempt people to hack into my space.

New clock design

If you are having trouble reading this new clock:

It is like, YYYYMMDDHHMiMiSS where
Y = year
M = month
D = day
H = hour
Mi = minute
S = second

So sorry for the inconvenience. I happened to like the clock this way.

No more~

YX just called me this afternoon and told me that our Ministry of Education ez-link cards have expired and we couldn't use it for transport anymore. Well, I didn't know la. Was still happily using the card for the last half year.

When I went for my brother's concert just now (or yesterday to be accurate) I tried to use my card on the bus. The card reader blurted out an alert tone and on the screen it said CARD EXPIRED! I had coins in preparation so it wasn't much of a problem. Due to habit I tried to scan the card again when I was alighting but apparently there wasn't a need. So the reader rang again. So embarrassing.

My dad got for me a new ez-link card (at least the picture on it was not too bad la) and it's so expensive la. Some time ago they implemented a new policy that a portion of the cost of the card which is $5 is non-refundable. The card damm ex!

Anyway, I went to the counter and asked the lady if I could get the $4.06 refund in my MOE ez-link. She said can, but they'll have to keep the card. I thought about it, and said 'Oh another day perhaps.' Just can't bear to part with the card for the moment.

Hmm. Suddenly I feel like playing The Singapore Experience by Hardy Mertens again. Probably because National Day is coming.

Phew.

I was staying up till almost 4am the past nights for...you know what? Watch those girlish Taiwanese serials. Damm nice la....I was catching the 恶魔在身边 which is a pretty good but short drama.

Just past the first few episodes when there was a lot of plotting and such, I began to at least tear a bit during each episode! That's so scary la. But I wept not because the leads were fighting so hard to be together, but there were some parts of the story that was similar to my own love life experiences it's hard not to have flashbacks. And Felix said I like to dwell on the past. Not that I like lo. Just so happened that I was watching this drama and it reminded me of so many happy memories. As well as sad ones.

Girls, if you don't want to cry, don't watch! It's not a very smart show to begin with la...but such Taiwanese serials, what to expect?

Now it's time for Full House. A Korean serial featuring Rain.

~~~~~
I just experienced a parting last week. I initiated it though..and don't feel so much la. I didn't cry, I didn't think too much about it...instead I felt bad. Felt bad because there was someone that I may have hurt, who tried to keep me but I left. It's Sam la. If you still didn't know who he is, I knew him while working at Compass Point during the first quarter of the year. I don't know what I saw in him, but ya, circumstances made me feel loved lo. Was together with him from around March to last week. Except for the beginning, throughout the relationship we didn't communicate much. I used to stay up and wait for his call which never came, and when I called back, he fell asleep already and told me he was tired so he didn't call or at least SMS me. I'm one who needs lots of attention from my companion. I just don't understand how come guys can totally not SMS you, informing you that he's going to sleep all that. Like what's so hard about at least SMSing me on the train from work? I don't understand, that's part of the problem too. He used to SMS me in between customers while he was courting me, and he could totally not contact me for a few days in a row when we were into the relationship. I didn't rely on him, so I, too, didn't bother messaging him. His excuses were that he was busy, tired, blah blah blah, I don't seem to be important anymore, so what's the point? I don't want to go into detail of how much a bastard everyone around me thought he was when he was courting me and the things he told me about, but as friends, he was great. We had another problem - everytime we already set to meet, something would crop up and destroy our chances of a date and the like. So for the months we didn't go out by ourselves at all. The longest time we had for each other outside was at most forty minutes. We used to pass time at his place, but I got sick and tired and I wanted to go out.
The breakup happened around his birthday. A day before his birthday his uncle who resides in Malaysia passed away after days in coma due to a traffic accident. He didn't want to go to the funeral because he wanted to meet me. I told him to go as a form of respect, and he said he'd call me as soon as he reach home on his birthday so that we could meet up. Fine, I waited for a whole day and sacrificed a day's worth of work. I did nothing that day, just waited for him at home and tolerate the nagging from my mum like why just go to work first all that. But I didn't know when Sam'd call. I waited for a few days in fact. When he didn't contact and his present was gathering dust in my room, I ringed him up and the call got through. I hung up so at least I knew he was in Singapore. I got mad at him, I know it's not entirely his fault, but he didn't contact me straightaway when he entered the country and told me that I was the one who told him to go for the funeral. Fine lo.
I was ignoring him on and off throughout the next few weeks, and when my birthday was near....he was so disappointing. At about 3am plus of June 22, he SMSed and wished me happy birthday when my birthday is on the 23rd. I told him he got the date wrong, and he didn't reply. The next day, he messaged 'Happy 18th birthday dear!' when I turned 19. I can understand if he got tired because of work, but such things he cannot even remember, and even mentioned about marrying me. I won't be able to tolerate at all. So just last week when he messaged me again I brought up the topic and told him about giving up on me. He didn't beg me to stay directly, but just SMSed things like he thought I could understand him and another was like just 'Dear...'. So I told him to find another who can understand him. Though I wonder who'll.
When I thought I could get away from those
I was happily working yesterday thinking that I will not have to work anymore, and rush through their last day of June sales entry and I'll be free! No more work for me to fret about, blah blah blah.
In the end........I think I'm too soft-hearted la. Because they still need people to do the entry for them ma...so since I start school only in August..they asked me to go down once a week will do then do the sales thing weekly.
Sian...I don't like the job at all lo. Sigh. And dunno how to reject. And since I can have a few hours' worth of pay...headache. Headache.
What for?
Tsz Shan just lost her handphone for the third time running and she was telling Daniel and I together on MSN.
Daniel was suggesting those primary school kids' kind of hooks and straps ya? Those rubbery like single helix kind. Ah like your telephone cord! I'm sure all of you remember. I thought that idea is a bit too far off to begin with, but nevertheless a good idea.
However, on my way to work this afternoon, a primary school kid with a card holder attached to a lanyard dropped his ez-link in front of me. This lady picked it up to him then he realised that the card is gone. I saw the poor quality card holder empty.
Then what's the point of getting lanyards and straps and hooks and attachments whatsoever when you'll still lose things?
Aiya. Sometimes it's meant to be if you lose your stuff la. Scarly if that stuff stay with you for too long, it may bring bad luck to you. Whaha.
Time for some advertising
In the beginning of the year, I predicted (since things were already more or less organised) that I'll be having a busy schedule in the middle of the year 2006. Yes indeed.
Coming mid July, I'm going to perform at a concert again..which is the third one this year. MJ concert as alumni in May, HSC concert as alumni in June, and now.
I lifted this from the promotion postcard:
RHYTHME ET BLUES
MUS'ART WIND ORCHESTRA and MUS'ART PERCUSSION CLUB presents
a JURONG GREEN COMMUNITY CLUB production "RHYTHME ET BLUES"
with guest conductor SHUICHI KOMIYAMA music by CLAUDE DEBUSSY GEORGE GERSHWIN
directed by
TAN SOH HWA
singapore conference hall
5.30pm
$10
free seating
Well you can come to me if you want one of those postcards.
You wanna come? Ask me for tickets!
Went back to Hai Sing today, and I heard from my juniors that one of the band leaders made the choice for the whole band, which is for everyone to go. Since it is compulsory, whether they want or not they still have to go right...I feel damm odd la it's like..the audience is forced to go. Mrs Chua offered to pay half the price of the ticket for every member in the band. So she will be paying $5 for each of them! I'm feeling a bit unhappy over this because the band leader should pay instead! Mrs Chua never force but encourage them to go and she's bearing the cost. Ah never mind la. Since decisions are already made.
Anyway, now I have a problem. Actually I could sell the tickets to my section, though I won't offer to pay part of the ticket price =\, and now...I can't expect them to pay $10 to me to get the tickets. So 6 hopefuls gone. I got a feeling I won't be able to sell a single ticket then. Like so poor thing la.
I'm the poor thing. Yea. Because I have to play with MJ for the National Band Competition at 1415 hrs, and rush to SCH to prepare for the concert which takes place at 1730 hrs. They have yet to announce what time we're supposed to meet at SCH all that so I still cannot plan my time. This is sooo rush la. From Victoria Concert Hall run to SCH. Sigh. I'm not looking forward at all.
This is the schedule of the competition, credits to World Music Projects website
I won't be forcing Felix they all to go since MJ got competition and as you can see results won't be announced till the last band finishes which is after 5pm. Think they will be bothered more about the results lo, since it's a band thing. I guess if it's me I'll be a bit reluctant to go for Mus'Art concert anyway, will be so nervous how to find the mood. Sigh. Dunno how liao. And seems like I'll be informed of the results through technology and won't be able to experience the anxiety all that with the band and especially my section.
Yi Xin still cannot find anyone to go with her, there goes.
Daniel will be getting tickets from Xin Hui I think. So more or less I guess he's coming! Something to be worth being elated about.
Still haven't confirm with Tsz Shan they all about this concert.
Shit la I think I'll be reaaaally lonely. Sigh.
Never had before celebration
Met the seven of us for dinner at Bedok, some Japanese restaurant by the name of...uh...some Sumo thingy. The food there....ok la. Pretty average. Prices are affordable, something like the food court Jap cuisine prices.
It was the first time that friends some sort of celebrated my birthday with me, probably due to June 23 being on the last week of the holidays people are either busy with holiday homework or revision that I usually spent my birthdays at home, doing work too, and never celebrating. It soon became something like I didn't really bother to want to happen, since it didn't happen before.
Living for 19 years already, I was quite looking forward to a gathering with friends that they are celebrating my birthday for me. I didn't think too much about it, just thought that it'll be really fun. In the end...........I felt quite bad la like waste a lot of their time T_T The restaurant didn't allow any form of photography which I dunno why. Then it killed my 'desire' to snap pictures for a day that is worthy to remember. I forgot all about taking photos after that. No one talked about it too.
After the meal, we went to the hawker centre at Bedok interchange for dessert. Their biggest table only has seats for six people..and I went to one of the stalls and borrowed a plastic chair from the uncle and we squeezed in that table. The chair wasn't that clean and I think I dirtied my fingers a bit and really didn't feel like doing anything else other than talk and eating.
It was only when I alighted from the bus on the way home then I realised that we didn't take pictures. T_T Damm sad la. Sigh.
The girls gave me a watch! The watch is nice, just that now I have to debate which watch to wear because I don't wanna chuck my Fossil watch aside. It's from my mum ma. And I still love it. Haha depends on the occasion ba.
I did take photos. Two. Of the food. Then the waitress came and warned me. And I think it's quite meaningless to just put pictures of food in this post la. Haha so that's about it that I wanna blog~!
Ah..
From a healthy pink, my blog turned green. That is how one's skin looks like when he is sick.
My blog is sick so its skin turned green.
So many font colours, clock colour, cbox colour that I have to change. Ah lazy. Come back and edit another time.
I obviously have no links to Yamaguchi
If you heard of the name Erina Yamaguchi, bless you. Word has it that she's quite hot in Japan. I am just soooooo glad that I have no link to her la.
You can see a picture of her here.
And you know what line she's in. Gross. The picture is too obscene that I don't even wanna post it here. So be careful when you see her photo. If I'm telling you this too late....I'm sorry.
Hostel postings are out
The hostel allocations are out already. This is early leh, when I thought only international freshmen will know around this time. And we're required to reply by the end of the month, when local freshies are supposed to know the results only next month.
Anyway, I got allocated to Sheares Hall. Hope things will be fun!
What the hell. Imagine Erina as a cheerleader. Or a punk. That'd be extremely amusing. If I'm really one, then I think I'm the loner kind already.
