Muahaha
When I'm sick, I blog and whine.
Now that I'm not so sick, I seem to stop blogging!
I'm happy that my throat isn't as irritating anymore =D Yeay!
It still hurts a little time to time, but the ulcers are much smaller.
And I had biscuits yesterdaaayy~
Anyway, I was away at Genting for the weekend and just got back late last night.
I have tons of things to do today, so that's it for now.
Now that I'm not so sick, I seem to stop blogging!

A bit better now!
I'm a bit better now.
Woke up this late morning in pain. As usual.
Then crawled around till at 2 p.m. plus I went to see the doctor, a different one now. At the Tampines Polyclinic. Mum told me to go there.
Okay.
The trouble is I've never been there for donkey years, the last time I was there my mum brought me so I must have been really small that time. And with the progress of technology I bet there were tons of things I didn't catch up with.
And so.
I went there thinking that there's surely a small machine at the registration that I can press to get a ticket number. But there wasn't any machine at the registration room. I walked up all the way to the counters and see none. There weren't many people at that time, so it was pretty embarassing.
In the end the machine was placed opposite the registration room beside a lift. -_-
But hey, the machine is a touch-screen!
I lag.
The auntie at the registration counter checked my record and clarified if it was my first time there and I was like 'uhhhh....' So she guessed that I just haven't been there for a very long time. Bingo.
Doc said the tonsils are back to their usual size but the ulcers are still there. Which means, I'm tonsillitis-free!!
So he gave me Serratiopeptidase (for Hui Shan's reference if she reads haha) and a gargle mixture and an ulcer paste called Oracort E.
That ulcer cream's seriously the problem. Here's a rough look at the condition of my mouth.
Please be mindful that the actual state of my mouth is much more gross than this. So the above shows the four of the ulcers that have been causing my misery. There is one big one further inside my throat but it looks gross that I don't know how to draw it. And several more here and there.
The reason being that the ulcers are all the way there, the doctor suggested using a cotton bud to apply. Well I didn't know the paste/cream/gel is such a stubborn substance. It won't leave the cotton bud! I think it was because the environment in my mouth was too moist.
And after some tries it finally stuck. I tried on the top two ulcers you see above. But the thing is when you use your nose to breathe, the tongue will be pushed up to cover the opening to your oesophagus and that's when I taste the paste. I reckon they were washed away by my tongue as well.
You know, I haven't swallowed since I applied the paste -_- so I'm in a super uncomfortable situation now. Just spitting away the saliva reservoir in my mouth HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH. Sorry to disclose such information. You chose to read it =P
Oh the insert of the paste said 'For external use only. Do not swallow.' Then why the hell are you being applied in my throat when I'm sure I'm gonna swallow you???? Hmmph.
And to add on to the discomfort it tasted funny. The thing is the area of your tongue where you taste bitter is at the back of your tongue. That's like......where the ulcers and my tongue will meet. Thanks.

I'm so deprived
I just checked my throat, that must have been the largest patch of ulcer I ever have in my entire 20 years of life.
Yes, 20. =P
Hui Shan, if only I can apply Kenalog all the way there, I'd be well overnight! T_T I'll just end up belching or swallowing it before it can take effect.
I've been eating porridge since Saturday. I didn't have to eat porridge on Saturday, Mum so happened to cook it that day. I didn't know I'd be stuck with it.
Oh I had grass jelly on Sunday night. And seafood soup without seafood this morning.
I still feel deprived.
I wanna eat roti prata! T_T Oh my god. Imagine the crispiness. Ughhhhhhhh.

After much thought (and pain)
I suddenly realised (superstitiously) why I've got tonsillitis.
It's not because of the dirty water at Wild Wild Wet.
It's not because of the heaty food I had a New York New York.
It's not because of anything I did the days prior to the onset of the illness.
It must be because I've sinned!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I had beef at NYNY!
I was tempted by their Giant Meatball spaghetti bolognaise which wasn't gigantic but it was nice and even though I know it contained beef I still went ahead to order it because I felt like having bolo and that was the only thing there!!!!
So having eaten beef + being a Buddhist (by birth!) = tonsillitis!!
Punishment!
But when I had beef I didn't get sick or anything what. My brother and sister eat beef outside occasionally too but nothing happened to them.

I'm hungry. I only had porridge for the last few days! And two bowls of porridge made my lunch and dinner.
I want to eat waffles.

Groans
I didn't sleep well throughout the night because of the pain in my throat. I kept waking up -_-
I went to the doctor yesterday, he said that I must have adequate rest. But I can't rest with the pain! And I can't swallow or do anything that will cause my throat to contract and that'll be so so so painful.
And being unable to swallow properly means I can't eat much, and that means I can't take my medication which must come after food!
I forced 1/3 of a slice of raisin bread down just now. While gripping the cushion and tearing away. =\ For the sake of after-food medicine. Doc said the medicine is strong so can't consume on an empty stomach.
He also warned that the body may either engulf the swollen parts and that'll be good, or the swollen parts may just be left as holes in my throat and that'll be very very painful. I think the latter is happening to me. I can't see 'cos my tongue isn't cooperating. I can't yawn nor cough, I don't even wanna talk now =(
Doc said I should take 3 to 5 days to heal. I can't wait for Friday to come. This is seriously a bad time 'cos I have to start packing my room and then pack the luggage for LA but I don't feel like doing anything. T_T

I think I'll see the doctor later to see if he has anything to ease the pain. There wasn't any sore throat when I saw him on Friday. Yea, I better.
I'm just afraid that he'll ask me to undergo surgery and they'll slice away my tonsils. Yikes.

Not again!
On Thursday afternoon, I hopped to CFA. And everything was well.
On that very evening, I settled down for band practice.
That was when everything became extremely unwell.
About an hour in band pract, I started to shiver. I thought, perhaps the poor attendance has caused me to absorb more of the drats air-conditioning.
Bit by bit my fingertips started to feel coldly numb. Or numbly cold.
It was even weirder when I was the one who was yearning for a jacket but those people who had their jackets lying around didn't even bother to wear it. So it must've been me.
Slowly my head felt heavier.
Oh noooooo.
Went home after practice, took a quick shower, told bro I won't be going cycling so he won't need to accompany me the next morning, and went to sleep. That was about 11 p.m.
I woke up at 7 a.m. yesterday plus 'cos Ethan was wailing. And then I went back to sleep, woke up at 11 a.m. plus. Zzz.
My temperature soared.
I was a bit too giddy to go to the doctor on my own, and mum had to take care of Ethan so she couldn't accompany me there. I waited till 6 p.m. plus when bro came back and he very nicely drove me to the clinic (when it was just 5 minutes away by foot).
My temperature was 38.1 deg C, and the doctor told me it was tonsillitis. That's like the second time in 2 months? I was prescribed many awful-tasting pills and I nearly choked on them. The medicine this time was not as cute as those the last time and I really am reluctant to take them -_- muahahaha.
Slept at 9 p.m. plus last night. Woke up at 4 a.m. plus -_- and was feeling hungry (I didn't have dinner on Thursday) yet nauseous. Fed myself with bread and tried to go back to sleep. Decided to make some Campbell's soup instead. Felt even more nauseous than ever. I don't wanna throw up so I just sat down and stared into space after taking the medicine.
And this morning I felt a pain in my throat. It's reaaaaallllyyyy painful. Every time I have to cringe when I swallow. T_T pain pain go away.
So now the fever's somewhat gone (the thermometer died on me so I can't be sure) but my throat's really sore! =(
Imagine a throat-ful of ulcers!!

So now this is ours.
Now Singapore has more land area.
Which is 691.7 sq km + the area of a football field. Great.
But soon enough, Singapore will get a larger surface area due to reclamation.

The International Court of Justice ruled that Pedra Branca belongs to Singapore. Now that we've got sovereignty over the tiny island, we're slightly bigger now!! Hurray!
However, there are two other pieces of land/rocks very near Pedra Branca. Middle Rocks and South Ledge. Middle Rocks is now Malaysia's and South Ledge still has no owner. ICJ stated that South Ledge will belong to whichever country the territorial waters lie in. I don't know.
The funny thing about South Ledge is that you can only see it when the tide is low. Therefore, let's say if South Ledge is ours, then at high tide, Singapore is smaller. At low tide, Singapore is bigger! Hurray!

Pedra Branca refers to 'white rock' in Portuguese. Another name for Pedra Branca is Pulau Batu Putih in Malay. But they spell it as puteh instead of putih.
The International Court of Justice is at The Hague in the Netherlands. I was scratching my head, totally no idea where The Hague is. Den Haag.
So now this is ours.

Celebrated Yi Xin's and Felix's belated birthdays (they were both born on the same day, fortunately or unfortunately)
16 May 2008. Afternoon. Yi Xin.
We had a walk at Orchard and Central before ending up at the lousy Pasta de Waraku for dinner. The one at Marina Square is so so so much better. Pweee. No QC.
And after dinner we went to E! Hub in Pasir Ris (since we all live in Pasir Ris or Tampines) to chill. And found out that the drink-and-chat places there seem to close at 11 p.m.
So much for chilling. But we managed to stay at The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf till about 2335.

Went to meet Ai Lin, Amy and Juli for brunch at Marutama Ramen. All photos here.
The food there is fabulous! As in, only three types of ramen but still very good. Quite a number of side dishes to choose from though.
And after that Juli left and the rest of us went to Haagen Dazs at Clarke Quay for a looooooong chat and we left.

It was really enjoyable (seriously!) bit*hing with the girls and of course to entertain each other and laugh over all sorts of things. I love my girls =)
And Shun's cake was an ice-cream cake from Gelare. I haven't eaten ice-cream cakes in a looooong while. Not that I particularly liked them. But it's just that there's no cream!

Met Nathalie, Pin Xuan, Samuel, Wilson and Yu Ming (who left in the middle of dinner) at Raffles place for a meal at Shokudo. It's like Marche, Japanese style. As if I've been to Marche. Haha.
I had something grilled chicken drizzled with what tasted like teriyaki sauce with an egg in the middle on top of rice. And it wasn't fastastic. But there were a lot of things I wished I had tried there. Oh never mind haha.
After dinner we walked around and made our way past the Esplanade to the Merlion, then to Boat Quay and then finally settled down in Clarke Quay's Central's Starbucks. Just sat around and chatted and took lotsa photos.

Geeks!
It was NUSWS' dinner and dance just now, i.e. last night, and it was quite enjoyable except boredom at some point hahahah but that's alright!
I realise I didn't eat much. Maybe I'm not that greedy after all. I'm still not hungry. The only full and proper meal I had today was Big Breakfast Meal at the golden arches.
Anyway, during the day I was thinking that it's either I carry this geek thing off or I'll just be an utter nutcase. Ghastly. HAHA.
But I think it was alright. I feel that I was a cross between a countryside girl from the 60's and a fashion faux pas but who cares we had fun hoho.
Oh I was nominated for best dressed geek! Didn't win though =P HAHAA.

I realise I didn't eat much. Maybe I'm not that greedy after all. I'm still not hungry. The only full and proper meal I had today was Big Breakfast Meal at the golden arches.
Anyway, during the day I was thinking that it's either I carry this geek thing off or I'll just be an utter nutcase. Ghastly. HAHA.
But I think it was alright. I feel that I was a cross between a countryside girl from the 60's and a fashion faux pas but who cares we had fun hoho.
Oh I was nominated for best dressed geek! Didn't win though =P HAHAA.
