Ann Gee's postcards

My friend Ann Gee is selling postcards! She's currently a poly student.

And she drew the designs herself and she should be selling at about $1.50 though I'm not the only one who thinks she should up her prices. Dimensions are 15cm by 10cm.

GST is going to be increased

5% and we're complaining already. What about 7%? This is crazy.

In order to help the lower-income families i.e. like mine. But it's hard to fork out for a start.

Imagine you go to a restaurant, spend $15 on a meal there. This is how much you are charged:
Sub-total: $15
Service charge 10%: $1.50
GST 7%: $1.155
TOTAL: $17.655 which is approximately $17.65 that you have to pay.

A GST of 5% will be $0.825, compared to $1.155.

Man, things are getting damm expensive.

Wow.

I was looking for MJC's website when I can't remember the exact address so I decided to go to yahoo.com to search for it. I typed 'Meridian Junior College' and out came sites from Wikipedia!!! Erm OK, nothing much really, until I saw in the intro of the article there was a link to the princpal's name. Curious I clicked on it. And I laughed extremely loudly.

Well what happened wasn't funny, I was just amused and surprised that there was actually a page for Ms Esther Lai! As in she's not that famous or whatsoever, but someone already contributed an article about her.

OK OK, that's enough for blogging. Hahaa..

Novelty cakes

Like Jing Yi I saw the article on some novelty design cakes in ST.

You can view the website here. There are many designs ranging from a steamboat feast to fast food meals to udon noodles. And all are cakes. Chopsticks are strawberry Pocky sticks. Haha.

Anyway, my dad liked this design. We're sort of intending to 庆祝大寿 for him for his next birthday because he's turning 50.

It is a cake, not a real lobster

It's a pretty-looking cake but it is damm expensive! It comes only in a size of 3kg costing $168. The price sounds good also, similar to what Chinese likes wish other friends (and themselves) that they prosper all the way. 一路发。More expensive than buying a real lobster I guess.

Moreover 3kg, how is the 5 or 6 of us going to finish it? Haha.

Recently I just bought the Sheares windbreaker for $25, and I wore it to the lab to do programming. Decided to go out to refill my water bottle.

On my way back in the lift, I was standing next to this man. He turned and asked me, 'You're from Sheares?'

I nodded.

'Oh, what's your block?'

'E.'

'What's your name?'

'Erina. Why?'

'Oh don't you recognise me? I'm your hall master.'

Shit. But I really cannot recognise him.

'You're year 1?'

'Ya.'

'Oh I haven't been walking around to chat with the residents because I was busy, so it's OK.'

'Haha ok.'

Phew. He spoke to us before, but I cannot remember how he looks like. I only know he's Master Gary. My seniors said that he'll remember names.

A test in an hour

The test is my Nation-building module test. Sigh. Sick of that module. Just hate to study such things ever since secondary school. I can't concentrate for the past 24 hours that I've been studying and till now I only read two lecture notes and less than a reading. When I could've done much much much more.

So screwed for this test. I've screwed up ALL my tests so far, no joke no exaggeration.

Suddenly I think, I'm in deep shit.

It's like I'm giving up on this semester. I don't feel the motivation. It's scary that I don't feel any because the exams are coming. See the countdown clock ---->

Edit: Well Xin Hui said that I must learn to love the modules, if not I won't do well. Yes that is what I'll try to do in the short time that I have left. The test was...crap by the way. As in, I wrote crap.

Oh I just saw the advertisement for JG's new album during the break for Phua Chu Kang. The same one I posted, it's total English anyway.

When I was watching TV at the lounge

I ran to Ai Lin's room after seeing it and told her that the ad said in stores now. So it could be the Music Junction at Vivo that's slow. Okay...

Anyway, because I was showing Ai Lin the advertisement thru youtube I showed her my blog since I posted it there already. Then I left to continue watching PCK and when I came back she left a message on Messenger telling me that she has got the same purple gown. It's the dress I wore for my prom and some weddings to date. The same Daniel Yam dress! Can you believe it?? Ya I know I bought the dress a year ago and she bought it three years ago -_- She was born in 1985 anyway. Haha when I got the dress it was the last few pieces already.

Then I saw that she has the book Marley & Me by John Grogan (Yes not Josh Groban but John Grogan) that I wanted to read some time ago. About a dog and a guy. Quite obvious from the title. But the dog has disciplinary problems. Even expelled from dog school, how's that? Then Ai Lin said she likes dogs and asked me if I like them. I'm so-so with dogs, I like labradors and german shepherds but not that committed. So I told her I like lions. Incredibly in love.

And she likes lions too!!! They are her favourite wild animal!

Goodness!

This is sooooo incredible. What more in common do we have? Haha. So I told her we might as well share rooms. -_- No la the rooms are small enough. Haha.

And I went to her blog and you know what???

Weird

Just last week I got to know that the senior staying opposite, Ai Lin, also likes Josh Groban!

Was watching some Taiwanese drama the other day and then - oh my is that JG's voice?

Then I went to my door and stood there and listened. It was a tune I had never heard before, but the voice is 100% JG's. Stepped over to Ai Lin's door and she was looking at his website!!

Haha then I got quite high and asked her 'Is that Josh Groban?' Yes it really was so I got to know another JG fan! She knows Il Divo too, and she's interested in the Phantom of the Opera musical (she already got the Cat A tix) and she likes Lion King!!!!! HAHAHAHHAHAA~~~~~~~~~~ I almost went crazy about knowing all these. She's the quiet kind, so with her it was mostly hi-bye or talk about computing stuff (she's a final-year at School of Computing).

Today she went to Vivo to check out Awake but she said that the guy said it wasn't available. =( Sighhhhhh.....then when will it be? It IS November 7 today. But good la, at least I know I won't be distracted. And luckily I didn't make up my mind to go to Vivo. It would be a wasted trip since I only want to go there to buy the album. Ai Lin was shopping there.

Sigh. I really want the album asap! And hope the other songs aren't disappointing. 'Cos the first two albums weren't!

Sigh...

Yesterday my mum was asking me for the photos we took at my cousin's wedding so she could choose what she wants to be developed.

Then she was choosing and she said she wanted to develop this photo



and print it at size 8R, whereas the rest at only size 4R.

She said she wants to see me everyday so she's gonna frame it up too.

=(

Makes me so sad that I'm making her miss me.

But I told her just print it at 5R will do. 8R is too expensive. And I don't think I looked good in that photo.

Then she called me just now and she said she collected the photos already and she sounded satisfied and happy. Like from today onwards she can see me everyday.

Awake or not?

AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.

Two more days to the worldwide release of Awake.

How?? Should I get it when it's released? Since Tuesday is my free day and I can spare some time to go buy it. But buy from where? One of the shopping malls? But travelling takes up a lot of time! How how how how how? I want to get it asap but I'm worried that I'll spend too much time addicted to it. I'm the kind who can't study when I listen to good music. I'll just concentrate on the music. And then a sing-a-long session comes next.

I can't make up my mind cos I need time to study! Sighhhhhhhhh. Exams are in three weeks' time and I haven't started revision yet and there are a lot of things I don't know.

But I wanna get it asap!! And share the joy with the rest of the world. Haha.

How?

What if they give out posters along with the album? I'd want to get any merchandise related to Josh Groban if I can! In California they're going to give out wristbands when they get the album so buyers can meet JG for signatures. But not in Singapore T_T

Should I get the CD? If I were to get I'll be going to Harbourfront which is like the nearest and then I'll just go to VivoCity. Which I've never been to before. Which means if I go I'll be going around to shop and feast my eyes with the number of shops there.

I think I better not go there. 'Cos I'll just end up wasting my whole day shopping. Guess I'll allocate a few days in my holiday to go there and shop and watch a movie. Shall bring my mum there too.

This is just like when his previous album released in 2003. I bought Closer the day of my last O level paper.

And I love his curls and captivating eyes. =P

An interesting lecture

Well of course the lecture I had yesterday wasn't as interesting as the funny NTU Indian lecturer telling his audience the comments about himself.

The lecture was about plants. So the lecturer's desk in the LT was decorated with ferns, mosses, and a few pots of plants.

He was then talking about something like how the plants feed themselves etc (I can't remember), then he brought out a small pot of venus flytrap and put it under the projector so the entire LT could see. Then he demonstrated to us how the venus flytrap feeds. He took out a fat little spider!! Haha that part was rather amusing because the lecturer was like 'Help save me!' or something. Haha....hilarious. The spider was then struggling on the forceps.

There were some hair-like structures protruding out of the inner side of the flytrap, which are triggers to close the trap when the hairs are touched twice.

And then the lecturer put the spider on one of the traps and the trap shut. Oooh. I've witnessed how things are like. But what I didn't know is, the venus flytrap is in fact just a small plant. I thought the traps were humongous.

So when the trap is closed the flytrap will excrete digestive juices to..well, digest the insect.

Poor spider!

But come to think of it, I think I need a flytrap in my room at Sheares.

Josh Groban's new album is finally coming out! Titled Awake, it'll be selling worldwide on November 7. The last album, Closer, came out in 2003. It took him three years to come up with this! I'm going to get it! Confirm! But I'll get it after my exams la. I was hooked onto Closer for like, quite a number of months. Bought it right after my O levels and a while later bought his self-titled first album. So I don't want to get addicted to Awake, so I think I better buy it after December 5. But I'm so tempted to get it asap!! I love Josh Groban!

His new song is great!! You Are Loved (Don't Give Up) is darn nice! The song itself is meaningful, the melody is nice, his voice is.....omg, mesmerising. That's why I like him so much!

Feels weird

Have you realised that 2006 is ending soon? I'm blogging November posts now. The semester exams are coming also..Oh my...I am so not ready for it. Extremely. But I don't want my CAPs to end up with 2 plus or even worse.

I feel kinda weird because school just started and I am nearing the end of a year...just not used to school starting in the later part of the year and Christmas is coming in just more than a month! Decorations will be up for the festive season in department stores soon. I haven't gone to VivoCity...I think when I get to go it'll be decorated with snow already.

So many things I haven't done...and so many things are in the agenda.

2006! Can you stay for a little while longer.................I'm not ready to proceed on to a new year yet.

They're coming on January 18 as part of their Asian tour at Indoor Stadium. Tickets are at $88, $118, $148, $188 and $248. Sistic doesn't sell their tickets yet, but still, I want to go!!! And I can't afford ANY of their tickets!!!!

This is when you wish money would drop from the sky. And a partner who would go with you. Please drop!

Sigh...anyone wants to come with me and willing to save up to watch the operatic foursome? Pleaseeeeee!

Next year seems to be very eventful. Il Divo, Phantom of the Opera...Hope I'll love 2007, other than the school work. And hope money really will drop from the sky.

Jie Ying: Hahahahaaa.....it's far more expensive than Phantom of the Opera. Sistic should be selling it, as what the news article in the Straits Times as well as several other online articles I found. But the Sistic website doesn't have it. I don't know why. Anyway, for the information to all, the tickets are at $88, $118, $148, $188 and $248.

The priciest for Phantom is at $160 or $145.

Anyone wanna go?? I'll settle for the $148 maximum!
