Time for some advertising

In the beginning of the year, I predicted (since things were already more or less organised) that I'll be having a busy schedule in the middle of the year 2006. Yes indeed.

Coming mid July, I'm going to perform at a concert again..which is the third one this year. MJ concert as alumni in May, HSC concert as alumni in June, and now.

I lifted this from the promotion postcard:

RHYTHME ET BLUES
MUS'ART WIND ORCHESTRA and MUS'ART PERCUSSION CLUB presents
a JURONG GREEN COMMUNITY CLUB production "RHYTHME ET BLUES"
with guest conductor SHUICHI KOMIYAMA music by CLAUDE DEBUSSY GEORGE GERSHWIN
directed by
TAN SOH HWA

singapore conference hall
5.30pm
$10
free seating

Well you can come to me if you want one of those postcards.

You wanna come? Ask me for tickets!

Went back to Hai Sing today, and I heard from my juniors that one of the band leaders made the choice for the whole band, which is for everyone to go. Since it is compulsory, whether they want or not they still have to go right...I feel damm odd la it's like..the audience is forced to go. Mrs Chua offered to pay half the price of the ticket for every member in the band. So she will be paying $5 for each of them! I'm feeling a bit unhappy over this because the band leader should pay instead! Mrs Chua never force but encourage them to go and she's bearing the cost. Ah never mind la. Since decisions are already made.

Anyway, now I have a problem. Actually I could sell the tickets to my section, though I won't offer to pay part of the ticket price =\, and now...I can't expect them to pay $10 to me to get the tickets. So 6 hopefuls gone. I got a feeling I won't be able to sell a single ticket then. Like so poor thing la.

I'm the poor thing. Yea. Because I have to play with MJ for the National Band Competition at 1415 hrs, and rush to SCH to prepare for the concert which takes place at 1730 hrs. They have yet to announce what time we're supposed to meet at SCH all that so I still cannot plan my time. This is sooo rush la. From Victoria Concert Hall run to SCH. Sigh. I'm not looking forward at all.

This is the schedule of the competition, credits to World Music Projects website

I won't be forcing Felix they all to go since MJ got competition and as you can see results won't be announced till the last band finishes which is after 5pm. Think they will be bothered more about the results lo, since it's a band thing. I guess if it's me I'll be a bit reluctant to go for Mus'Art concert anyway, will be so nervous how to find the mood. Sigh. Dunno how liao. And seems like I'll be informed of the results through technology and won't be able to experience the anxiety all that with the band and especially my section.

Yi Xin still cannot find anyone to go with her, there goes.

Daniel will be getting tickets from Xin Hui I think. So more or less I guess he's coming! Something to be worth being elated about.

Still haven't confirm with Tsz Shan they all about this concert.

Shit la I think I'll be reaaaally lonely. Sigh.

Never had before celebration

Met the seven of us for dinner at Bedok, some Japanese restaurant by the name of...uh...some Sumo thingy. The food there....ok la. Pretty average. Prices are affordable, something like the food court Jap cuisine prices.

It was the first time that friends some sort of celebrated my birthday with me, probably due to June 23 being on the last week of the holidays people are either busy with holiday homework or revision that I usually spent my birthdays at home, doing work too, and never celebrating. It soon became something like I didn't really bother to want to happen, since it didn't happen before.

Living for 19 years already, I was quite looking forward to a gathering with friends that they are celebrating my birthday for me. I didn't think too much about it, just thought that it'll be really fun. In the end...........I felt quite bad la like waste a lot of their time T_T The restaurant didn't allow any form of photography which I dunno why. Then it killed my 'desire' to snap pictures for a day that is worthy to remember. I forgot all about taking photos after that. No one talked about it too.

After the meal, we went to the hawker centre at Bedok interchange for dessert. Their biggest table only has seats for six people..and I went to one of the stalls and borrowed a plastic chair from the uncle and we squeezed in that table. The chair wasn't that clean and I think I dirtied my fingers a bit and really didn't feel like doing anything else other than talk and eating.

It was only when I alighted from the bus on the way home then I realised that we didn't take pictures. T_T Damm sad la. Sigh.

The girls gave me a watch! The watch is nice, just that now I have to debate which watch to wear because I don't wanna chuck my Fossil watch aside. It's from my mum ma. And I still love it. Haha depends on the occasion ba.

I did take photos. Two. Of the food. Then the waitress came and warned me. And I think it's quite meaningless to just put pictures of food in this post la. Haha so that's about it that I wanna blog~!

Ah..

From a healthy pink, my blog turned green. That is how one's skin looks like when he is sick.

My blog is sick so its skin turned green.

So many font colours, clock colour, cbox colour that I have to change. Ah lazy. Come back and edit another time.

I obviously have no links to Yamaguchi

If you heard of the name Erina Yamaguchi, bless you. Word has it that she's quite hot in Japan. I am just soooooo glad that I have no link to her la.

You can see a picture of her here.

And you know what line she's in. Gross. The picture is too obscene that I don't even wanna post it here. So be careful when you see her photo. If I'm telling you this too late....I'm sorry.

Hostel postings are out

The hostel allocations are out already. This is early leh, when I thought only international freshmen will know around this time. And we're required to reply by the end of the month, when local freshies are supposed to know the results only next month.

Anyway, I got allocated to Sheares Hall. Hope things will be fun!

What the hell. Imagine Erina as a cheerleader. Or a punk. That'd be extremely amusing. If I'm really one, then I think I'm the loner kind already.

A birthday

*coughs*

This is so ridiculous. So ridiculous.

Happy 19th birthday Erina!

Yes yes, may I have all the good returns in the whole wide world! =D

My tiny celebration at home...

A Blackforest cake from Sweet Talk
Aw. Isn't the ambience so right? My family laughed at me because I blew out all the candles just in one puff
Every year my arms just gets fatter and fatter as if all the space in the world belonged to them

Though there wasn't any birthday bash or anything - I never had one before so I'm rather indifferent to this - I am very very thankful to all those who remembered what June 23 is about!

It's another birthday...time flies! Just a year ago it was a slightly different group of people were wishing and some sort of celebrating with me. It's quite saddening when people you expected to remember will forget your birthday la...........ya so I'm quite disappointed lo. Yet so happy that there are people whom I didn't expect but they remembered my birthday nevertheless. Or it's like someone else reminded them but anyway...yep.

I wanted to yell on this blog and voice out my disappointment but I think I better not la. When I scroll back to look at this post again next year I shall forget what I was grumbling about! So don't mention any sad things here. Yes don't mention. *breathes deeply* And thank you Alvin for listening to me.

This Reebok Gym jacket is from Daniel, Ee Yan, Tsz Shan and Wei Xiong. 多谢了!At first when I got the present from Dan I was like, 'Eh, this wrapper looks just like the one used to wrap your present from the trombones!' 'Ah ah look closely it's different.' 'Oh ya.' My wrapper has got more Happy Birthdays printed compared to Daniel's wrapper the other time.

And when I got home and settled down more or less I look out the present and unwrapped it to find a jacket inside, no surprise! Because Dan already asked me a few days ago if I needed a jacket and I said not really and he said things more or less settled so you know I know that it's a gift that we're talking about. Haha.

On the plastic wrapper of the jacket there was this sticker telling you the colour of the jacket etc. I saw 'Size: XL' I was like, thanks ah, you know my size so well. Haha and when I brought the jacket in front of me it's like, yep, thanks a lot guys, I appreciate this. And so I tried wearing it and saw myself in the mirror. 'WAH!!!' was my exclamation. Really nice leh! Haha really like it. Fits as if it's tailored for me (yea right). Thanks so much!

Alvin went to meet me after work yesterday and passed me something else...it's a plush flower with the words 'Happy Birthday' on it and a lion with magnets on its limbs and tummy dangling on the flower's stalk. Damm cute la.

Wheee...
...eeee...!

How did I think of such a childish way to portray the flower and the lion?

Ah I must have been too traumatised by ageing I wanna stay at age 8.

I was quite surprised to receive birthday cards this year actually...and I received two cards through snail mail yesterday. So happy. Both were from Shu Fang, my primary school best friend and Dexter, my Prudential advisor.

This is from Shufang

And this from Dexter

Alvin gave me this earlier this month and said it's also a birthday present...heh. My 26th lion

Ah...at the end of a birthday surely will have words of gratitude one.

I'd like to thank...

Ah Bean, Ma and Kor who celebrated my birthday with a nice cake...
Ma for singing a birthday song for me...
Yi Xin for wishing me at a special time of 2306 hrs today because it coincides with my birthdate, 2306...
Daniel, Ee Yan, Tsz Shan and Wei Xiong for the lovely jacket...
Shufang and Dexter for their cards...
Alvin for calling me in the morning to sing a birthday song, and all his presents and concern...
Daniel and Dexter who gave their birthday greetings on June 22...
Sock Leng, Hwee Lee, Kai Yan and Jorcelyn for wishing me in the wee hours of the morning...
Sam who wished me happy 18th birthday instead, but still thanks, nevertheless...
Shun Wei, Shi Hui, my sister, Felix, Hong Wei and Ah Bean for wishing me in the morning...
Joan, Jie Ying, Tsz Shan and Bao Lun for wishing in the afternoon...
my sister who called and sang a birthday song in the evening...
Alvin for being around on the day of my birthday to let me know that someone bothers to come out specially for me...
Benny, Cedric, Kimberly, Jing Yi, Joel Tan, Xue Li and Ju Ling for wishing at night...
Pei Ling who wished me when I wished her which is so amusing...
Kegan Tan, Pei Wen, Wee Kiat and Grace Lee who wished me a day too late but still I appreciate...
many others who wished days later...
and everyone else who made me a happy girl!

So touching. Haha.

A birthday

Happy 19th birthday Pei Ling!

So special to know someone with the same birthday as me. But we weren't born in the same hospital if I'm not wrong.

Blooming

The lilies that Tsz Shan and Wei Xiong gave me have bloomed! It started from one flower and many buds. Now there are three flowers. Yeay. They're thriving.

Viva Musica V in action!

Wah the concert. High man!!! Haha damm enjoyable la..those stupid things we did on stage, it's like HSCCB is more of a visual entertainment sometimes. Like we always have gimmicks for performances, replay pieces that we've been playing for years, and props and actors and actresses and dances are always involved! And all these people are our own band members! That's the funny part.

Woke up and prepared the stuff and made my way to MJ for practice while hogging all my stuff there. After which I left the school and made my way to Whitesands NTUC to get some chocolates for my section, and then met the HSC trombone alumni girls at City Hall for lunch.

When I reached VCH at 3pm plus, rehearsal was already ongoing (duh) and I pulled Yi Xin to go with me to the circle seats for a better view and better projection of their playing. And to take photos, of course.

During rehearsal...

The junior band playing Theme from New York, New York conducted by Mr Chua
Jie Ying and Daphne at the stall seats when I take a photo of them from above
The guest Clarinet Choir from Mus'art

I didn't take a lot of photos, I dunno why.

When we were dismissed to change into our performing attires and have some dinner, they said the dinner bentos aren't enough! Apparently the caterer delivered a shortage. So Tsz Shan, Wei Xiong and I were left without dinner. Mdm Zaibon announced afterwards that she'd ordered McDonald's and it'll arrive at 1915. I never saw a sign of Mac later in the night. Hence I had no dinner.

The boys practising some dancing for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame that the main band and alumni would be playing

I was left alone during these period of time and decided that I'd go change but all the toilets were overflowing with the girls. Thought hard and realised the adjacent Victoria Theatre will definitely have public toilets too. So trotted there and found Ee Yan and TS already there lo. Haha asked them to wait for me and when I'm done and wanna comb my hair at the basin, some Chinese national-looking aunties came in with their performance uniform. For a moment I thought they were just looking at themselves in the mirror but....but...but...they started stripping. At first they took off their tops but of course their bras were still intact, therefore I thought it was OK since in JC girls were like that too. Until they started taking off their bottoms that's when I got the shock of my life. It's like there are also people whom you dunno in the toilet lo it's like mass stripping can. Gawd. Told EY and TS that we should go so ran off. I was quite traumatised after that.

That's me, WX and TS in the space upstairs, above the backstage. Glad that I knew of such a space and didn't have to compete with others for the toilet cubicles

Since we had no dinner, we went around Cavenagh Bridge and along the Singapore River to take pictures. I was really having a lot of fun with those juniors whom I hadn't contacted for some time that I was a bit too cranky and laughed my heart out like some unglam freak. Whatever.

Me and TS

WX and me
WX, me and TS against the backdrop of the Singapore River and its bank

Oh well, when it was about time that we went back to VCH for the photo taking session, I was already very cranky. Haha.

Daniel and I after I calmed down a bit
Cedric and Dan
The stage before the bell rang for the performance to start
A rose that Ee Yan got from one of the juniors
EY, me, Ced and Dan
The tuba section with Mrs Chua

The concert beginned..

The junior band during the concert
Mr. Chua with the main band
The performers for the Star Wars part of John William's piece
Mrs Chua with the main band. Downstage you see two kids in PE attire. They were preparing for the Olympics part of the piece and then run around the stall seats passing some kind of fake torch. Hilarious
Jaws. I tried hard to capture the two 'swimmers'
And the shark but I failed

That's all the photos I have, only the first half la. I passed WX my camera to take photos of the second half but then sadly miscommunication arose and he thought I just need him to help me take care. Like thanks.

When the concert ended everyone was in a high la! I think it was also because of the dancers that brought up the atmosphere and the mood for everyone to enjoy..it's like not only the performers and players enjoying lo..the audience also..you'll know when you hear a lot of commotion from them. Then I was cranky again and kept screaming and yelling and dunno how we did the Kallang Wave on the stage! Lame la. Haha. But post-concert was very very fun. I'll miss the concert.

After the concert..

Me and Ryan
Yu Han and I
Me and Hongwei
Yu Han and Jie Ying

And we made our way back to HSC.

Chiaw Hong and I
I dunno what I was complaining about and I made this face. The photographer dunno how to countdown to push the shutter so....some unglam moments haha
Ah that's a better one. Amanda and I, ignoring the presence of Daniel at the back =P
Me and Zhi Wei
The tuba section of batches born in '85, '86, '87, '89, '91, '92, '93
Some chocolate plus cereal stuff that Sock Leng gave
Lilies that TS and WX gave
Only Smarties have the answer from Hong Wei
Gerbera from Chiaw Hong
Dragonfruit from TS and WX. God knows why they choose to give bizarre things haha
This mummy handphone strap is from Daniel

Thanks to all for those who came to support! And this is one of the most enjoyable concerts I ever had. =D Long live HSCCB! And the alumni, of course.
